Future shipments of the HTC Droid Incredible will come with Froyo out of the box
If you love all gadgets, check our new sister site - Meet Gadget
Current owners of the HTC Droid Incredible are waiting to see Froyo arrive for their handsets, but it looks like Verizon will be shipping out all future HTC Droid Incredible units with Android 2.2 out of the box. If you've waiting until now to place an order for the device, you'll be happy to know that the timing is perfect now that it'll boast Froyo from the onset. In addition, you're not going to wait long in experiencing the latest iteration of the platform since it looks like it's no longer being affected by supply issues. However, if you look closely at the description of the phone on Verizon's site, they state it as being a”Google Experience Device” – which is interesting to say the least when it packs HTC's customized experience with the Sense user interface. Regardless, we're sure there are going to be a lot of big smiles when owners finally rip the handset out of its packaging and play around with the sweet new platform.

I just received my droid incredible yesterday. I ordered the droid after they posted specifications for the device with 2.2. It came with 2.1. Your post isn't accurate. Verizon is misleading people shipping something the device doesn't have. I guess they need to sell all those 2.1 incredibles before shipping ones with 2.2. Verizon support and technical support said I have to wait in line like all the others.

Thanks for posting your source hcox2081.
Ahem, if this isn't an official posting from Verizon then I caution anyone getting their incredibles not to be surprised it having 2.1. I believe they will go through all their inventory with 2.1 and those whose bought these units will wait for the update like everyone else.
I like my incredible and will wait for 2.2.
Enough said,

The original notice above is dated today.
Your Dincs were shipped before today. Get it now?
And please explain how Verizon benefits from shipping one version over the other. One has 2.2. The other one is fully upgradeable to 2.2.
Enough said.

The description of the Incredible on VZW coming with 2.2 and without an AMOLD screen has been posted since the 26th of August.

I ordered the Incredible when Verizon changed their documentation on Thur 8/26 that indicated the DInc had Froyo 2.2 and other features (720p, etc...). We don't know officially if ALL units ordered today will have 2.2, I don't believe anyone does, unless they go through their inventory throughout the US and change them. We are giving notice to customers to not be surprised if they order today and get 2.1.
Verizon doesn't benefit at all from shipping phones that don't meet the specs their documentation says it will have. It is misleading and disappointing.
