I downloaded, installed, then it failed. I unrooted, downloaded, installed and that failed. I took the SD card off, downloaded, installed and that failed too. Finally, I did a factory reset, downloaded, installed and that too failed. Does anyone have the solution for this problem? Or does anyone have any other suggestions? Please explain in details if there anything, thank you.

b3t7rod -It sounds like you are having a very difficult time trying to get Gingerbread installed on your Droid 2.

What happens when it fails? In other words, are you getting any type of error message on the phone when you try to install the update?

Are you following these steps to install the update?

Make sure when you try again, the SD is in place.

Also, please advise me of the software version that is currently on your phone.

OP: you say you unrooted your phone.  The biggest cause of the update failing is when the system is not "stock".  While rooted, did you freeze/remove bloat, add bootstrap recovery, modify system files etc?   Unrooting and factory reset will not undo most of these changes.   If you did, you will need to SBF the phone before updating again.

Here's what I got. I spent most of the day downloading the update ( around 6 - 7 times ) - best to be on home network-  everytime it rebooted and started the install just to hang up around 1/4 way up on the status bar and then reboot and failed notice. This is what I had to do in order for it to work ..{edited to comply with Terms of Service}

. LET YOUR BATTERY CHARGE !!!! ..{edited to comply with Terms of Service}

Once rebooted pull battery and reboot again. then connect to home or someones network before you attempt download will save you 20 - 30 minutes on download time. once downloaded go ahead and install .. once it's done let it reboot and then give it a few minutes to catch up and then pull the battery and let it reboot again ..  it's pretty but it has issues .. my battery will not charge at all .. I turned mine off and am giving it a lil while to see if it will charge up ... will check in an hour or so to see if it made a difference but according to other post around the web the battery issue is a problem..

2 hours later and still no charge ... i would advise not to upgrade until they figure out what's wrong with their update. I reverted back to basic rom with rsd lite and hope to eventually get through setup just to turn it off and pray for it to charge.

OK if you install this update and it runs your battery out while trying to go back to "reset phone "  ... use a charger that isn't connected to a pc .. take the battery out before you connect it, wait for the moto sign to come up and then the battery pic will pop up and then put your battery back in .. and to the mod- sorry for the aftermarket names  .. just tried to help since i was responding to a user that had rooted their phone.
