Still not working!!!! Argh! Help!
Bluestar,
Go here and read this post. It explains it all and saves me a lot of slow typing my friend.

ugh, got it working... sort of... the accuracy is still a bit off... but it works.
Mine seems to be locking on much slower than before the update.
dirge80,
Try this...
DC5,
Besides Google's GPS services being on you may also have the Standalone services on because if you pulled down the Notification Bar and touched GPS at the top of the display screen that turns on the Standalone services.
I just noticed this by accident while using my GPS.
My GPS simply wont lock on now no matter what I do. Before the update it would take 2 to 3 minutes, but now it never, ever does. Does anyone have any suggestions?
hifaalan,
Read this post carefully: http://community.vzw.com/t5/DROID-Charge-by-Samsung/GPS-amp-Gingerbread-2-3-6/td-p/741706
Then run their A-GPS "thing-ee-do."
Thanks for the advice. I have that app, and it makes no difference. My phone is perpetually trying lock down the GPS location without success.
so does anyone know what perhaps the best combo is?
Standalone GPS and Google Services seems to lock on pretty quick
UMFootball1985,
You have it, Standalone GPS and Google Services. When you turn on the GPS in the notification bar you get Standalone GPS so that's a given. Then Google services seem to be needed too. Maybe because the MAPS and Navigation I use are google's.
But I am getting 6-21 seconds to lock on inside the house. That's faster than my Garmin Nuvi 5000 GPS.
Another thing I've noticed is that loading Facebook enables the GPS (not sure why Facebook needs your gps data . . . not cool . . .) and it has caused problems with google maps (at one point, it caused me to be off several streets and showed my location moving sideways on the map). I found that killing the facebook app can fix the gps (though restarting the phone works too). Not sure if that helps but it helped me.
That said, I do have that app that JerryF recommended and found it to lock on a lot quicker (not to be confused with "quick" because it's still pretty slow, as you had described). So yeah, I'd kill the facebook app and run that program before I wanted to get a gps signal. I haven't tried only using google and ignoring the GPS standalone as someone had suggested though. I might have to give that a try.
Anyone else have any combinations that work?

The very last thing I would want is a social network (Facebook) tracking me everywhere. I would be out of Facebook immediately if not sooner.
