I have had two Charges that I can't get music onto. I have looked at the posts that gave instructions on how to do it but my computer, or vice versa, will not recognize my phone. When I hook it up to the computer with the USB cable the instuructions say to look in the status bar and select USB connected. The problem is it does not show this option, there are no options. I have created a music folder but have not been able to get any music into it.
I did try to take the card out of my phone and put it into the computer and download onto it that way. But again, it has not worked. It gives me a message saying I can't do it (I am sorry but I don't remember the specific message it gave as to why it would not work).
Any help would be great. Tanks.

Vimitt,
I agree with you. In this world of Plug n Play you just don't think of downloading drivers.
Here is what saved me. I decided to register my Charge phone at the Samsung site, which I did. But next to my registration it said click here to download and install the drivers for the Samsung Charge i510 phone so I did and never thought of it again.
If I could give you a KUDO I would because you were so nice and polite throughout your frustrating ordeal.
Best regards,
JerryF

Dear vimitt,
Check your USB settings on the phone. To do this, from any home screen, press the Menu button (left physical button on the phone) and then select Settings > USB Settings. I prefer to have the setting on "Mass storage". Now attach the phone to the computer and see if it shows in the status bar and on the "My Computer" window of your computer.
If so, you can use Windows Media Player to sync your library, or just drag and drop the music files into your music folder. If you need further guidance, post to this thread and let us know.

Here is the easiest way I have found to move music to your phone or remove it from your phone. It is the way I do it. You should know that I use Windows XP SP3 on my laptop. Here goes...
START: On your Charge phone go to Settings>Applications>Development and click on USB debugging so the red colored arrow is lit up (it shows). You can reverse this after moving your music to the phone.
Using the cable that came with the Charge connect it to a USB port on your PC.. You don't even have to turn on your phone but you can turn it on. If a Windows screen comes up choose TAKE NO ACTION to close it. You will not need it.
Next, on your PC go to Windows Explorer to see all your folders and files. In the left column go down the list and near the bottom you will see "Removable Disk G" (that's your phone) although it could be E, F, G, H, or whatever on your PC. Click on the + sigh to the left of Removable Disk G. A bunch of folders will open up. Look for the one called MUSIC. Finally you now can drag and drop songs that are already somewhere else in your PC to this folder on your phone. When you are done close out everything but read my note below.
NOTE: You don't have to but before unplugging the phone I suggest that you look at the ICONS at the right side bottom of you screen. One of them will say "Safely Remove Hardware." Click on it and you will get a massage or screen that it is safe to remove the hardware. This always is the best way to remove a removable disk. Now unplug your phone.
Now you can use the APP Music Player already in your phone to play the songs on your phone.
Also, you can now go back to START (above) and un-check the USB Debugging you originally checked.
BTW, page 68 in the manual will tell you how you can divide up these songs into unique Play Lists.
Anytime you want to you can return the the folder MUSIC and add more songs or remove some songs.
I type very slowly so if you REALLY like this please toss me a KUDO. If it's not that good please forget it.

I have to ask after I read this, are you just waiting for this to show up or are you pulling the status bar down and then look for this option?
Also when you said that you placed it in a pc reader and it didnt work, what did it do when you put the card in?
If it didnt read at all then it sounds like you may have a bad card...

Wildman,
There is a Status Bar when using Windows Explorer. When you're in Windows Explorer look up to the menu bar at the top of the screen. Then click on VIEW and you will see STATUS BAR. Click on it and you will have a type of menu bar added at the bottom of the screen. Maybe it will tell you something.
Put you card into someone Else's PC and if is not recognized there, like has already said, maybe you card is bad.

I appreciate all the information. Unfortunately, I can't get to any of these solutions until I can get my computer to see my phone.
WCMack and JerryF, I have tried both of your suggestions on going into settings and to no avail, there is still no notice in the notification panel when I hook up to the pc or on the pc either.
B33, I have not tried your suggestion yet because I feel if the computer can't see my phone then there isn't any program that will help.
Wildman, No I did not just wait for something to happen. I tried to pull the notification panel down on my phone and I also looked on the windows panel; computer and see if the phone was there and it never shows up. I tried to take the card out again and put some music onto it again. The error message I get is:
An unexpected error is preventing the operation. Error 0x80070079 The semaphore timeout period has expired.
So I have tried the suggestions and still no work. If anyone has any other ideas that I can try to get my computer to see my phone I would love to try them. I will try to hook my phone up to another computer tomorrow and see if the other computer can see it.
Thanks to all

Vimitt,
Take a look at this. It may be your PC? If this fixes it, you owe me a beer...okay!
