Hey everyone, I didn't know of any better place to turn then the official Verizon forums for help.
Alright, My father and step-mum separated, and he kept her on his contract until it ended this month.
He wants to renew his contract, which was a very basic plan, mind you, and instead of him and my step-mum, it will be me and him.
I would like to get a Droid, but I haven't found any definite answers to what I need to get it for the $200 price.
Is there an absolute certain plan we must get, or can he keep his plan?
I would love to have texting, but, he is stuck on saying no because it cost too much, and I was also wondering if there was a way to convince him to get a plan with that, with out the whole "Everyone has it". I would like to know if there is a cheaper plan that includes texting, and monthly fee of that plan with two lines.
Thank you for any help.

Verizon requires an email/data plan (29.99) on top of your voice plan for any smartphone. While I think the cost is high, IMO it makes no sense owning a droid if you cannot use its internet based functionality. If all you want to do is make calls and text, there are much more affordable options. If they supported some sort of pay by the megabyte plan for data, I would be worried that you would easily run up a bill higher than the unlimited package.
I'm a private user and have no affiliation with Verizon, other than being a customer.

I am looking at the Droid, mostly for it's versatility, and that I have WiFi, so I can use the internet enabled apps/widgets, whatever you wish to call it. I'm a major gadget lover, and the Droid has my name all over it. So I need to have a data plan, on top of my original plan?

Correct, the one you would buy is the $29.99 Plan. On top of your texting plan. On top your Family Minutes.

Before I make a closure on this, Is there an estimated total on what would be the monthly fee?
Thank you all.
I'll be around.

Well sorry to hear about the parents. But, if you want to be on a family plan with him you absolutely can. Now, there is a plan that has a limited amount of texint (Some 1500 I think) -- but be aware if money is an issue -- you need a data plan. And I'm assuming that you're not a business user so the one you would have to get is the $29.99 Plan (Unlimited Data/E-mail)
