Getting messages late.

I volunteer with my local fire dept. and for the past two years I've been using my phone as the means to know when to respond. Never had an issue, actually would receive the call prior to the pagers opening. I used to have the "boulder" as my phone. I recently got the droid x and at first had no issues. But since the froyo update I would get the calls/text msg 15 minutes  to three days late. (Every call/text states the date and time dispatch issues the call), had the phone replaced. When I got the replacement, everything was coming in on time. Then silly me, I downloaded the Pandora app. and my calls came in late again. So I deleted the app, still late. I did a factory reset, still late, but now it's 17 mins everytime.  I don't have the time nor the energy to be waiting at my local Verizon store for 2 to 3 hours to bring this issue up, again.

They've (Verizon) tried telling me it's has to do with dispatch's side.

Everyone else in town who uses their phone have no issues. Various phones, and carriers

Then was told  the network had trouble finding your phone at the point dispatch sent out the message.

So since the froyo update. I've had no service? Kind of hard to believe. Also the amount of times I'd be around the others esp who have verizon, and their phones recieve the call but mine left in the dark

I've tried emailing my phone to test the timing of my text msg. Which was hit or miss. That method has to many varibles, how do I know if it wasn't  gmail or a hotmail server issue that prevented the msg coming sooner?

Check your phone's battery settings.  For the fastest email/data times set it to performance.  As for missed calls/texts, your phone lists the time they arrive @ the device not the time sent.  Sounds like you have an app or something interfering with them.

Wildman has a few posts about how to do a hard reset and not load app data.  For the problems you are having I would definately give his guides a shot.

I know that the phone stamps the time it receives it, when i compare it to what time is stated in the msg. That is how I am able to find out how many minutes, hours, even days late I receive the msg. I have already done the hard reset.

Hard reset can still load your previous app data if you don't set it up to not do so.  If it's emails that you are not getting I would look into the data settings.  As for txt messages, the phone doesn't go into a sleep mode to delay these.  So the only way you wouldn't get those is if your phone was in Airplane mode or did not have a signal.

Another thing you can check just for the heck of it is: Settings Data Manager.  Make sure all three options, background data, data roaming and Data Enabled have a green check-mark.  If any of these are not checked, check them then restart your phone with a battery pull.  After you restart test your phone for emails and texts.  Emails should be no more than a 2-4 min delay with txt being pretty much instant, or no more than 2 mins.

To test your text messaging speed use this link:  https://text.vzw.com/customer_site/jsp/messaging_lo.jsp  This link will also show you exactly when your message is delivered to your handset.  In my test with the Normal delivery it takes mine about 15 seconds, 7 seconds for Urgent priority.

Honestly I noticed that at times the data connection and notification seems to get into a dorment stage where is dont transmit notifications or data information (This includes VVM)..  It can be a pain at times and I have been hoping a fix comes out soon.

I've tried the message service on the verizon website, on and off and urgent and not at random times, all but once, the messages came in within a few seconds. the one that didn't the phone had no service for some reason and came in a couple mins behind. I have a few friends text me  current date and time at random times and those came in within a minute of the send.  At this point makes me believe it was on the dispatch side. I've contacted them and nothing has changed in how they send out the messages since they have started.

That being so how can every one else get the message on time while im the only one that gets it 17 mins late?  The CAD program dispatch uses only sends the msg out once.

Also, new info here. recently had a call go in for a retone, and I got the retone on time, but the orginal msg came 17 mins after the retone and it duplicated the msg as well. How does that happen. Why does this phone take 17 mins to process a msg from only one source?

Try doing a soft reset on the device.

Soft Reset

Then remove and reinstall battery and power on device.

Then dial *228 send and option 2 on the device to update the PRL.
