Looks like Gingerbread is finally getting to a release date, the paperwork for the update from 2.3.340 to 4.8.596 is posted on Verizons Droid X support page at http://support.vzw.com/pdf/system_update/droid_x_instructions.pdf,,,, I am sure this should make a good number of users happy, there cant be any stronger proof that the release date is near...
Just figured I would share....

I would differently list that as a official notice and verification...

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I have ran the Beta build for a month on one of my devices without any noticable issues and I can say that it is a noticable diffrence from my stock Froyo device, I found myself perferring to use the GB device over Froyo device. I own 2 Droid X loaded exactly the same software and design and the GB has a noticeable improvement of response time.
It is worth the upgrade....
Per Android Central Verizon confirms Droid X getting Gingerbread on Friday.. We will see but this sound like a possiblity..

Thank you for confirming the fact that the DX NEEDS Gingerbread. It sounds like it's a way better phone with it than without. I'm looking forward to having the ability to group my apps together. That will be MUCH nicer!
