Gingerbread Update for HTC Droid Incredible

Here we go it's the Official thread for the upcoming "Gingerbread 3.0" update for the Droid Incredible.

Here is some basic info regarding the new upcoming update. If you have any new information PLEASE update this thread and attach some links for all of us to follow.  

• Android 3.0 Gingerbread will be released in mid- October (around 15 -16th), 2010. First handsets shipping in November/December – for the Holiday Season.
• Minimum hardware requirements for Android 3.0 devices are: 1GHZ CPU, 512MB or RAM, displays from 3.5” and higher.  (We all, of course, heard that Android handsets with 2GHz CPU’s are coming)
• New 1280×760 resolution available for the devices with displays of 4” and higher. (Anyone thinking about Android tablets now? )
• Completely revamped user interface. If you want to get a feeling of what Android 3.0 Gingerbread UX is like, check out the Gallery app on Nexus One. The same overall feel, light animated transitions,etc. Natively, through all the UI.
• Android’s split into 2 branches becomes official. 3.0 for top of the line/high end devices. Cheap, low-end mass market handsets will keep Android 2.1/2.2

Google has already stated the hardware specs are false for those rumors.  They also stated they are going to a 6 month cycle since Froyo came out in the later 1/2 of this year that means if Gingerbread does exist then it will have to be January or later.

I'm actually holding out for a new phone in December. Those rumored Duel Core Tegra 2 Processor LTE phones keep me up at night lol.

My NE2 isn't due up for another year. Man, that gingerbread is gonna be stale by then.

As I can see from your specs, we won't benefit from this update at all. Useless update. The new resolution would only be compatible with screens 4' and above.

With all the features we have now, what else are we gonna need?

Besides that, not even all Incredible ownsers have Froyo yet, it's too early to talk about some Gingerbread. Not even all Froyo users use all of its new features, such as 3G Hotspot and bugging apps that came with the update.

I'm just wondering what would Gingerbread bring that will make me like this phone more than I already do. Nothing.

One interesting article on the whole "name game" or "2.x / 3.0" rumor. 

No real big information here but it's decent reading material.

On the flip side a leaked ROM version for the N1 apparently leaked. Nothing close to what we need for the Incredible but it's an interesting forum to read, and these guys know what they're talking about. (lots of issues)

Some kind of new radio, improved wifi stuff. The details are so far from knowing for sure. 

Another exciting point (rumor) is the fact that this may be the update with Google Music! Cloud to Phone service is going to be the future here. This is an generic post for those who don't understand. I'm really excited about this one!

So far the information about this update is very very hard to find. These "rumors" can go either way at this point. I fell behind in the information category of this update due to having the busiest past few weeks of my life. Now that I've completed my personal life task I'm back. Watch out! LOL I'm kidding I'm kidding.

I'm sorry some of you haven't gotten the Froyo update yet. It's no secret how to get it if you wanted.

I'm also sorry if you don't agree with this thread. It's main job here is to better inform people on what to expect. It's not a petition forum, form, forum, whatever..

so far it doesn't seem like anything special. guess time will tell when more details are hammered out. anyway, if 3.0 hits come Jan, i'll bet it's not on our Dinc's until April-ish.

Here we go again.  Now everyone on here can whine and cry for the next six months because they dont have 3.0 and then complain when they get it  - just like the 2.2 froyo update.

Here is a thought... How about just be happy with the phone you have and realize that there is always going to be something new and better to come along. 

The Droid Incredible is a great phone and I love it!!!

i got NO complaints. i LOVED 2.1 and i LOVE 2.2 and i "will" LOVE 3.0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nothin wrong with keepin up with updates!!!!
