uuuh wrote:Speaking of being edited I tried to asked what it is I typed that was edited but never recieved an answer, I simply wanted to know because I have no idea what I put in that comment, so more then likely I will make the same mistake. TOS has a margin of error in it and can be left up to interpertation at times, for instance, this half this thread is talking about the bootloader and how customers want it to be their choice whether or not to have that "service". Well that simply implies that it can compromised fairly easily, which I gaurantee more then likely what ever I post I usually speak Hypothetically or sarcastically rarely with any mater of fact step by step directions, Obviously compromising Bootloader is against TOS, but breaking TOS with-in a forum environment can be objective. Might as well stick with the thread Wildman, Im sure you know the next one will get off topic.
I know I for one am just using it to pass time waiting for the update, might as well shoot the ------ in the mean time.
If your post gets edited you usuallly can drop the admin that edited a PM and ask and they usually explain it to you...
Now about the OP post, from the layout of the message I would guess that the post had a link to probally one of the forums that has the leake Gingerbread rom and that is not allowed. Any links or information on how to load, download or hack a device is not allowed on a number of sited but there is sites that allow this and this can be a risky situation so the Admins usually stops post that is going this direction..
Hope that helped clearify things a bit for you...

What is it about the X that leaves you in such a tizzy about an update we may, or may not get, that you would put up posts that require censoring?
Nice? Cool? Maybe, but I couldn't give a flip if the X gets gingerbread. Won't care. Won't rant. That is, unless I rant about people whining.......

First off my edited comment was about gaining access to the file structure of the phone itself...I will self edit here, though some sensitive someone may still take offense to something that is quite prevalent anyway.
Second, I wasn't whining, I was asking for legitimate assistance and information so that I could have a current version without violating anything. If that is the kind of assistance that I get from this community, then you can keep it. This is not the community that I thought it was. I would rather converse with those who are a little more open and a lot less touchy...I could give a crap lees what you want or don't want. I was looking for official info...I will check in to the unofficial means as a result of the welcome that I get from this so called "community"

The information you posted brakes one of the biggest rules of your contract, in order to install the information given you have to due something that will
1. Void your devices warrenty and
2. Breach TOS because you would be installing software not released for public use which can merit your contract and service to be cancelled by Verizon.
Now as for information required to do these things are not covered on this site because only certified software can be supported here in this forum. I am sure if you placed parts from a Ford car on a GM, you wouldnt call GM about the part from Ford doesnt work on the car and then expect GM to fix the damage that came from you installing the unauthorized item.... I hope you wouldnt.
I hope this clearify things.

"what is it that you want the update to do?"
That's an easy one. Prevent force closures, random rebooting, be more compatible with apps so they don`t require removal after installation, better battery life, just an overall smoother running phone.
I see that people use cars for analogies all the time. lemme try one. You own a ford and every once in a while it acts up but overall is a good car so you become used to the minor nuisances then the dealer says we have an update that we can install on the cars CPU that will possibly offer better fuel mileage and some other improvements that can possibly enhance the overall ownership experience. Do you say " nah, I`m all set because I`m accustomed to its little quirks" or say " Please do all you can to make it as reliable as possible."? DROID X plus GINGERBREAD = better, more stable, faster.
A phone with great hardware deserve a better OS.

Funny you asked. On some of the reputable Android sites there are reports of people getting the update over the air today (04/12/11). But, I have not seen anything written in stone and those investigating are not getting confirmation from Verizon or Moto. Those reporting on it it are saying those getting the update to Gingerbread are getting it forced over the air with the phone saying the update was downloaded do you want to restart your phone. People checking to see if it can be pushed (which has been the usual) have gotten the Your phone is up to date...). I include myself in trying this. So I can't confirm it. But, it does seem to be the buzz right now on the X. We will have to see.
