Just received and downloaded the official Gingerbread OTA update this morning. After installing and booting I receive a Force close message for Mobile Defense. According to Mobile Defense's website, It turns out that the Mobile Defense has compatibility issues with Gingerbread to the point where it renders the phone unusable. The only thing I can see on my phone is the status bar. I have tried booting to recovery mode and clearing the cache partition. However, this made no difference. Verizon ended up transferring me to Motorola whose suggestion was to do a hard reset. This is most unfortunate, as hard resetting is a complete pain in the a*$. My suggestion, remove Mobile Defense BEFORE upgrading. Mobile Defense's website has instruction for how to remove the program (both for system installed and non-system installed). However, neither are able to be accomplished from the phone, as the phone won't work.
