Gmail Not Showing up in Messaging or Universal Mailbox

All my other apps and e-mails (Corporate Sync, Cox, Facebook, Twitter, Text Messages) all appear in my Messaging shortcut, but my Gmail account does not. I've looked at seeing if I can add it, but there's no option (that I can see). I have syncing enabled on my Gmail account for contacts and mail.

What do I need to do to get it there?

I found out that Gmail account do not get put into the Universal Mailbox automatically. If you want it to show up you must add it as an account in the general email icon.

How do you add the account? I've tried and it hasn't worked... I wonder why it would not autmatically just be in the Universal Mailbox? I have to say, I Love Love Love that feature of having all mail go to one central location. Is there a way to set up my work e-mail to do the same as well? i tried the coroporate thing, but that didn't seem right since I didn't know the server and all that Jazz...

Go to My Accounts or to the Email icon in your applications and add another Gmail account. You can then add this account to the universal mailbox and it will also show up in My Messages as an icon.

I've tried and set all the above, I can not get GMail to come to the Universal box on this replacement DX. It did on my first phone, but not this one. I have to manually go to Gmail on Google to see the mail. I can't even get mail to come to the Gmail inbox that's on the phone.
