Gmail not working, help.

On my droid x, gmail push has stopped working. I remember I had a problem with this in the past, but with the 2.2 update. The same path to fix the problem doesn't exist.

If I go to settings > accounts > gmail > I have sync contacts, gmail and calander, but its just a push once type thing to sync them. Aren't there suppose to be checkboxes to check?

Try  these steps:

Option 1

Press and hold an empty spot on a Home Screen that is not full, Select Widgets and then Power Control.  The Power Control Widget will have an  option to turn Sync on and off, make sure that the option for sync  is turned on  (It should be highlighted green).

Option 2

If you are using a Task Manager, make sure the settings allow the Gmail  Application to function without closing the application.

Option 3 ( Warning: May clear data stored for the Gmail Application.)

Go to  Settings, Applications, Manage Applications, then on the  Menu Bar and Press  All, and then go to  both  Gmail and Gmail storage and hit clear data for both.   Then dial *228 send and option 1 on the device.
