Well you know how things works, since Android is taking over the game and iPhone popularity has dropped they are hoping to kick the competition just like the situation with Apple suing Samsung and then Samsung counter suing.they try to kick down anyone doing better than them...
Now Linux is feeling left out... I really dont know where this will go because Linux is a open source software and modification are allowed so I am unsure what going on with their law suite.

It isn't the Linux developers who are sueing it's just someone who wrote code long ago trying to sue for royalties. It's a dangerous game when Courts side with people who claim ownership of open source code.
