Google navigation on my Droid X will not work.....please help!!!!

Late last week Google Navigation stopped giving me turn by turn directions.  I have tried rebooting, taking the battery out, doing a factory reset, unistalling googlr updates, reinstalling.  Still, no solution.  I rely on the Navigation for work.  Is anyone else having issuues with the service?  Verizon just says its googles problem and there is nothing they could do.  If i dont get this resloved soon i will have to resort to using vz navigator (hoping that works)

Hi Edalsie!

I am glad to learn that your GPS is up and running! Are you having any additional issues? Please let us know if you are.

With regard to the keyboard on your daughter's phone, I have two suggestions for you.

1. Clear the cache/data on the keyboard. The steps are below.

Menu>Settings>Applications>Manage applications>ALL (at top of display)>Multi-Touch Keyboard>press both Clear Cache and Clear Data

2. She can download a free keyboard application from the Android Market to see if it resolves her issues. Simply go to the Market and use "keyboard" as a keyword.

Please post back with your results.

Thanks very much!

When you say stopped giving turn by turn directions, what are you actually seeing? After putting the address in, does it sit and clock forever? Does it say follow the route/trying to find GPS? Are you going into navigation directly, or are you opening google maps first?

Do you have the latest update for Google Maps installed?

the only problem that I have ever had with Navigation is that sometimes it sits on waiting for GPS for a few minutes. If that happens, I just turn off GPS, then turn it back on... it usually works pretty quick after that.

There was a problem for about 2 weeks that Navigation would not see the address's in Contacts, but an update this week solved that problem.

I'm having the same issue - but it's not just google navigation its GPS in general that won't get a fix on the satellites.

This started about 5 days ago and is persistent for me.

WIthin Google Nav, I continually get the "searching for gps" message after I set my destination (and GN will use the data network to get directions based on my cell-tower based location).  Then it goes into "searching for GPS" forever.

Following some forum posts I found by doing a google search, I downloaded an app named "GPS Test", and found that my phone will only see one satellite (and sometimes none).

I'm trying to figure out if my DroidX has some kind of hardware/software malfunction in GPS, or if something is wrong elsewhere.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior?

Please call and report this issue and ask them to open up a ticket! http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=3b0a8b1c97a9ea23&hl=en&start=40

As you can see from that forum it's affecting many people throughout upstate ny. Verizon is blaming it on google or htc. But since the Droid X isn't an HTC phone, they need to know that this problem is happening to people with other brand android phones as well. Please report it because Verizon is yet to open up a major ticket on this issue.

I have a HTC Droid Incredible just South of Albany and my phone has said I've been in Spain since Friday.

I spoke to customer service/tech support about the eternal search for GPS AND a problem my daughter is having with her keyboard during texting.

She acknowledged a problem (on her phone as well) and a solution is being conjured up. No timeline however. Both problems are connected to the last update which included an update to Google maps.

Interestingly enough... as we were concluding our conversation, my phone found the GPS and I've had no problems for the past 45 minutes. My daughter's keyboard is still screwed up however.

At least they are acknowledging the problem now.

Might sound crazy but after reading multiple forums and variuos sites I came to the conclusion that this is a Motorola design fault were the phone craps out after time.  The only fix for me was to take a very small gauge copper wire and loop through the copper antenna in battery area and replace battery cover.  Copper wire gauge 24.  After this my wifi boosted and gps went from 0 to 7-9 sattelites.
