I can play high def from my BluRay HDMI to my TVs DVI input with a converter cable
No Cable available for Micro HDMI to DVI so I bought a Micro HDMI to HDMI cable and an HDMI to DVI adapter.
All plugs in nice and neat. Does not Work.
Droid X plays the videos I have taken in Gallery but nothing shows up on the TV.
The Video in Help Center show a Motorola M icon on the screen and implies that you just need to tap the M to play the video. No M Icon. Video plays on the DX but ignores the HDMI output.
Any suggestions?

The cable has a restriction on playing of copyrighted video data so this seems normal, now as for going through HDMI to other formats you may experience issues because of the way the pins are configured on device for the HDMI cable, it is most likely in a different layout to be compatible with all converter adapters.

I do not know for sure but I have had a number of HDMI cables (HDMI to Composite, component and dvi) and I learned that all the cables access curtain pins from the cable so this makes some cables incompatible because of the wires configurations. Kind of like plunging a keyboard in a ps2 mouse port, the keyboard makes a power connection to light up keyboard but nothing else functions, each cable need curtain data on curtain pin and if this does not match connection don't work.

Are you CERTAIN that CURTAIN is the right word choice for your post? ^^
Sorry I couldn't help myself. The post just sounded off in my head while reading it.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

The question is, "Is there a difference between a Droid X specific MicroHDMI to HDMI cable and an off the shelf MicroHDMI to HCMI cable?".

Without a break down of internal wires its hard to say for sure but under average situations when a different connection interface is used the layout of connecting pins are usually not standard. this is why you need a curtain adapter when using a HDMI to DVI cable, I had to go through 4 different adapters to get my device to play on my older tv that used a DVI interface and I believe this is your issue as well.
So to answer question, I believe Yes the cable isn't standard.

Also I forgot to point out that there is 4 different type of HDMI cables used in the market (5 if you include DVI).
Type A HDMI connector has 19 pins - Support 720p
Type B HDMI has 29 pins - Support 1080p
Type C is the Mini HDMI has 19 pins - Support 720p
Type D is the size of Mini USB has 19 pins - Support 720p- This on is new to market and hasn't became a standard.
So I would keep this in mind when you look to use a conversion DVI adapters... DVI is also a HDMI design cable but does not support audio in the stream and requires separate audio cables.
Here's example of connecting different cable formats.
Type A HDMI to DVI-D interface cable

Thats wnat I call a comprehensive response. I'll take my cable back to BestBuy and toddle on down to the Verizon store and see what they have to offer.
