HELP! I am brand new to the smartphone world......

I have several questions that probably sound crazy since I am new at this:

We added the basic data plan ($19.99) to our account and have 150mb/mo allotted.  (I am not someone that has to have the internet at my fingertips at all times).  However, it appears that even checking just 5 emails and 5 websites a month will put me over the 150mb :smileysurprised:(   My question then pertains to wi-fi usage.  I turn the wi-fi settings on when I am at home so that I can use the wireless connection in my house.  I was just informed that that does not matter, that I am still using mb's.  Is this true?  I really dont want to upgrade to the unlimited data plan if I dont have to since I really only need the phone for texting/calling.

Also, when we download an game app, I am assuming that it is accessing the internet initially but that once the game is downloaded the internet is not used to actually play it.  True?

Apps like Pandora I assume use the internet at all times.  True?

Also, why am I having such a hard time editing my contacts.  I can't figure out how to make changes to my contacts that I already added without having to delete them.

Finally, can you tell me a quick way to add speed dial to my contacts?  I can't find that either.

Thank you so much.

also your phone is continually syncing contacts, calanders ect with google.  other apps such as weatherbug also continually sync.  if you have the 150mb plan you need to download apps that monitor your data, and allow you to turn off various functions such as sync and 3g service.  the unilmited plan is 29.99, the 150mb is 15.  the unlimeted is really a better choice ihmo.  anything over wi-fi should not count toward yout 150mb, only 3g data should

Thank you so much......you answered all my questions.

The phone is currently on 3G.  Does anyone know the name of the app to uninstall?

its not something you uninstall.  you would need an app to toggle it on and off

when 3g is off, you wont get data, when its on you will

you will have to search the store, i dont use one

Also, why am I having such a hard time editing my contacts.  I can't figure out how to make changes to my contacts that I already added without having to delete them.

Open up your contact list, tap on the name (not the picture) of the contact you want to edit, tap the menu button and tap on edit. Then you can change anything you want. If you want to change a picture, just tap on the picture and either take a picture with the camera or select one from your gallery.

Finally, can you tell me a quick way to add speed dial to my contacts?  I can't find that either.

Tap on either the phone icon or the dialer icon. Tap on the menu key and then on speed dial setup. As far as the number of slots available for speed dialing, I only have up to the number 9. Nuber one is dedicated to voicemail. If there is a way to get more than 9, haven't figured that one out yet.
