HELP Issues with Droid X

I hope someone can help with this.  First off I love the phone. It is able to do anything I need and then some.  But

The Problem I am having is with calling and recieving calls.  Sometimes-  Not always- when I recieve a call or place a call I can hear fine but it is like I have pushed the mute button and the person on the other line cannot hear me.

Phone worked great for about a week. Then this started to happen. There are no specific times of the day. The tech I spoke to said there was a known issue with this.

I sent the phone in and they send me another phone to replace it.

It started happening on the new phone!!! I sopke to one tech he said to lower the volume setting on the phone and he reprogrammed something on his end (network for my phone). And asked me to try it.  Then it happened again and the tech said I had call forwarding attached to the phone and it was forwarding the call and crossing the line. So we took that off the plan. He said he was sure it was the issue.

It happened again- Called in and they tried something else. Said if it didn't fix it they would send me a new phone again.  So it happened again,  I called and the tech said he would be glad to send a phone out BUT he felt it was a software issue from a App in the Marketplace.  He suggested me to do a factory reset and try that. Do not put the apps on the phone. Then begin to add the apps one at a time until the problem reoccurs.I have only 10 or so app installed on phone not counting the ones that came with it.

Has anyone had this happen on there phone?

 Any suggestions?

Thanks

I haven't heard of this happening on Droid Xs.

That said, I think the tech is on the right track with helping you troubleshoot this problem. Try the restore, but be sure to disable the automatic backup features before you do so the phone won't automatically restore anything that might be causing problems (I really wish the tech had mentioned the disabling of the automatic app restore feature). Then as the tech said restore the apps one at a time and see if this solves your issue.

Good luck and do keep us informed of your results.

Everyone,

Well I had uninstalled a few od the apps and it still occured so I did the reset.  I haven't had any issues since friday.  I am going to wait and begin to reload some of the apps one at a time and see what happens.

Thanks to all.  As I install apps I will post if I find out which one causes the issue.

This has been a strange situation that some users have reported, a hard rest usually resolves this issue but it would be nice to be able to isolate the nature of the problem but so far no luck,   I feel this this is most likely a app causing the issue but I only had this happen after the 2.2.1 update and after I hard reset it hasnt happened again.

Okay, here is what you need to know in order to perform a proper factory restore of your phone...

Motorola/After-2-2-340-I-did-a-a-factory-reset/td-p/347404

Scroll down to the second post by Wildman with the colored text and the instructions on how to restore the phone to its out of the box condition. This is essential for starting over and looking for problems. We have been after Verizon to post this as a sticky in this forum, but they haven't seen fit to do so, for some unknown reason.

Again, good luck,

For some reason, some of that link doesn't appear as a hyperlink. But you need all of the text in the link paragraph to get to the right page.

The link for the Hard reset instructions doesn't work.

How do you stop the apps from loading automatically?

Lastly would it be the same as uninstalling the apps one at a time until I discover when it stops?

Thanks

I am on my third Droid X and I have had issues with it going on mute on all three phones. At first I thought it was a learning curve and I was holding it too close to my face, but I have had the phone since June 2010 and am very careful to hold it away from my face now. This is one of many issues ... my husband and I both abhor these phones. We are not **bleep**. I can honestly say I have never hated anything with such passion, but we are screwed since we are locked into a contract for another year. I even offered to purchase new phones but they said we would have to pay retail, starting at $400 each. The best solution they could offer was that we add two additional lines to our family plan for another $20/month!! How ridiculous. I have a terminally ill parent and desparately need a phone that works ... I don't have time to spend hours at the Vz store trying to get fixes. The last time I was there, another girl was on her fourth Droid X and another couple came in the store returning theirs as well. I don't know why they pretend there is nothing wrong with this product, but it is truly the worst purchase I have made in my life.
