HELP ME!

I am travelling abroad, as I do quite frequently, and I called the day before travel to ensure my global capability was activated and the data roaming was turned off. I was told that all was ready for travel. However, when I get to Germany, my phone started up, and had no service, and had the ghostbusters circle over the service bars. I then tried to switch to gsm and manually search for possible networks, which the phone found some, but wont connect, as it states that its unable to connect to these networks. I have also gotten a couple of messages that state SIM card error. Any idea whats going on or how to fix it?? I can't contact tech suppport, because I have no phone. i do remember that I normally do the *221 thing after they activate my global capability, but this technician said it wasn't necessary, and I now can't activate the phone, because I get no service. Anyone who could help me with this would be a lifesaver, as this is my only means of communication while abroad.

Thanks for the suggestions all. I finally got CS to call me in my hotel abroad. Somehow inbetween my last international travel and this one, they changed my SIM card number. So once they changed my SIM card number back to the correct number, everything worked fine. Everytime I travel abroad, however, I seem to have at least one problem with the activation that Verizion completes. Thanks anyways for the help guys!

First thing the programming is *228 not *221 but I am assuming this was a typo, now as for getting phones programming updated after entering onto a extended network area I really do not think that this can be updated without access to a tower unless you can somehow access the info through a wifi network, but I haven't heard of this being a option.

I think if anyone will have this answer it would be CS, have you called them for a solution?

Try calling Customer Service collect from a pay phone, hotel etc.   Number is +1 908-559-4899

It's possible that the SIM card wasn't activated correctly, or that the SIM card has somehow got damaged (depends on what the "SIM Card error" message actually says and means!).   Is the phone unlocked by any chance?   If so, try using a local SIM.
