HTC Incredible Camera Problems w/Fix

The camera will freeze on the picture that you take and will not display the touch overlay on the picture for you to choose to delete or take another. Another issue reported is the camera will go completely black!

I fixed this problem by switching where the camera stores the pictures and video that it takes. You can switch it from "Phone Storage" to "Storage Card". I have been taking pictures all day and not a single problem with the camera anymore!

If you have any other problems and possibly know the fix, please post it here... I hope I have helped someone with their camera problem.

I was also have terrible battery life. The problem was I had too many things constantly accessing the internet and they are as follows.

Gmail (Push)

Google Voice (Push)

Work E-Mail (Every 5 mins)

Weather (Every Hour)

Facebook (Every Hour)

Twitter (Every Hour)

eBuddy (Constantly On)

All the program above gave a huge battery hit and I reduced the programs to as follows.

Gmail (Push)

Google Voice (Push)

Work E-Mail (Every 30 mins)

Weather (Every 3 Hours)

This combined with letting my battery die to where the phone will just shut off because of no more battery and then a full charge that night has increased my battery life considerably.

I used my camera for the first time yesterday, and sometimes when I hit the trackball button to click the picture, the camera application would close and I would be returned to the main menu.  When I went to review the pictures I had taken, the most recent one (where the app closed itself) would not be there.  Very frustrating.  I will try saving to the storage card to see if that fixes my problem like it fixed yours.

My camera, specifically the videos, is having an issue wherein videos will suddenly no longer play.  The thumbnail will be there, but if I select it, I'll get an error message that "This video cannot be played."  If I reboot the phone, the video is then gone entirely.  I've tried storing the videos both on the card and on the phone, but that has not helped.

Anyone else having this issue?  Have you found a solution?

Thanks.

I've had the same issues both on the camera freeze/home screen jump and with the video recorder jumping to home screen and losing the video taken. I have seen some folks report that by switching to SD memory from internal memory fixes the issue, but that hasn't worked for me and I've seen several in the same boat as me.

I'm more interested in an official statement from HTC/Verizon on the issue and a fix for it. Here's to hoping the upcoming OTA will address it.
