I was able to walk into a Verizon store today and purchase the Incredible for $469. I am an existing Verizion customer (with a TP2, new contract last September, second line of a family plan). The representative I spoke with on the phone quoted me a price of $469 (as I'm not yet out of my upgrade window for the TP2) . There are three Verizon stores in a 1/2-mile radius, and I walked into a different store than the one I phoned, where they were not budging from the $599 price. In that store, I called the original store, where they again quoted me the $469 price.
I started asking specifics on the phone, such as "This is the phone that was released today, right?" and kept getting responses in the affirmative. So, I drove up the road, and the representative I initially spoke with on the phone wasn't on the floor. The person behind the counter kept quoting the $529 price, but after a lengthy retreat to the back room, the person I spoke with on the phone assisted me and honored the $469 price. On top of that, the service was excellent. I'd like to commend the representative by name and store, but I don't want to raise any issues over the discounted price.
My understanding is that there was an error on the price sheets that went out to retailers.

What the!? I tried to buy the Incredible today at two diffrent stores and they refused to sell it. I called Verizon and the rep stated they don't sell new phones off-Contract in store due to limited supply. I was like "What the hell"! Verizon should have stated that on the website.

I kind of see where Verizon is coming from on this. They just want to give the phone to the actual customers that will be with Verizon.

I wouldn't brag about paying $469 for a telephone. That's crazy.

I wouldn't brag about spending enough time on a service provider's web site to rack up over 700 posts.
Thanks for your contribution.

I didn't brag about anything. I spend a lot of time on a lot of websites. Time is one thing I have plenty of. I paid $199 for my Droid and I thought that was expensive enough for a phone.
