HTC says that the Incredible has no release date as of yet. They are still testing the phone. They have till at least June to finish the testing. And even then, Verizon has not picked the phone up for production selling. They are waiting for the finished testing. Yes by all the specs the phone seems to be a great phone, but it is not even off of the testing bench. It might fail everything and not even be marketed.
Don't hold your breath. Look at what happened with the Eris. It was marketed and sold like hotcakes and now.... It had tons of issues. Waiting for the 2.1 for fixes. Will that even cure all the issues? Who knows. All I know, I am tired of paying these high prices and not getting what I pay for.

I'd like to see a link to where HTC made these claims. From all accounts at CTIA, they never said that when I spoke with them

I've had my Eris for over three months now, and aside from a slightly buggy weather widget I don't know what problems you're talking about. I'm just anxious for 2.1 because I already installed it on my wife's Eris and so I know just how cool it's going to be.

I'm thinking of getting the Eris. What issues are you referring to?

Bugs
1. Signature line is way to small for regulatory disclaimers. So regulated business people can not use the phone for sending emails.
2. Bluetooth hands-free dialing can only be done if you buy a headset that copies your contact list and stores and uses the info in the headset. When you update your list on the phone the headset would need to resync prior to use. From all my research this is the only way it can be supported. These headsets are expensive. Based on the research (web) the voice dialing uses the Google servers over the internet connection to interpret your speech then sends the results back to your phone. This seems to be why the feature is not natively supported like almost all other phones for the last 10 years.
3. Bluetooth file beaming is disabled or not implemented.
Other then these issues the phone is great.

Allegedly-Verizon reps told JWS1956 this..Being the pessimistic person that I am I tend to believe we are a while away from getting the Incredible, but I also put zero trust in Verizon's reps knowledge base, if you truly were on the phone all day with them as an earlier post proclaims, I would venture to say that they told you something just to get rid of you. Verizon reps know they can lose their jobs for sharing information about pre released phones. This phone has been reported to already be in Verizons testers hands..If you want more info android forums has a thread with almost 500 pages on the Incredible with 22,000 posts.
As for the Eris it's a great little phone there are some very minor bugs, the biggest fault of the Eris is that it's slow compared to the Moto Droid...But it has pinch to zoom and flash built in.

JWS1956 is either bitter or misinformed.
Making a statement about how bad or buggy the Eirs is?
Have you ever touched one?
I don't want to start an arguement, but please don't make statements that you can't back up and/or attack a phone and make the owners of that phone get defensive.
It's just annoying.
On the other hand, HTC makes great phones (like the Eris) and I'm sure the Incredible will be awesome!
