This morning I put a big bottle of water in my purse. I had just taken it out of the packing box and it was sealed. When I got to work, half of my purse was filled with water and the phone was beeping.
I dried off the phone and unfortunately tried to turn it on. I saw a little android figure with an exclamation point. Then the phone went off. I took out the battery and the sim card. I took the phone to a cell phone repair shop and left it.
Has anyone out there got lucky and saved your phone after a water episode???

You made a big mistake in trying to power on the device. You might dodge the bullet this time, but in the future, if you ever suspect your phone has gotten wet, immediately remove the battery and allow the device to dry completely.

No problem, I've found that sitting a phone overnight in an airtight bowl/bag of uncooked DRY white rice tends to pull any hidden moisture out. I tried it once and I've been hooked since, luckily though I've been able to keep my X dry.
