Help on Data Plan

Hello, I had a Droid X and it was Damaged... so i want to activate another phone I have. its not a smartphone...

After i activate this non-smartphone..will verizon still charge me for the 30$ data charge?

you can have it removed, however you need to check the rebate terms as they require the device to be active on the account for a min time frame. otherwise the rebate can be reversed.

How long have you had the Droid X before it was damaged? If it is within the warranty period, why not get a replacement? As for the $30 data plan, you can change it.

Are you sure about this? As far as I know, this is only if you purchased the DROID X through a 3rd party such as Best Buy, Amazon, etc...

If you purchased the phone through Verizon, I don't think that there is any such requirement.

if you got the $100 rebate, instant or mail in, there is a requirement to activate it on the account that purchased it within 30 days of receipt. the device then must be active for 90 or 120 consecutive days. if you read the rebate paperwork it states this in the small print.

So after 120 days I could remove the data plan ($30) off my X?

why would you think you can remove data after 120 days, my responses were for the posts directly above it. posting from my phone and no qoute button.

after I re-read my post I see where you got that. my phone missed the word phone some where in my earlier post. you have to have the droid x active for that time period.

I got it now. With that said, would it be possible to drop the data plan on my X as I'm tossing up the idea of the Bionic but don't want to pay an additional $30 per month. I have only had my X for three months.

You can drop to the $15 plan, just monitor your data usage. If you are concerned about the rebate charge-back, ask a rep to look into it either over the phone or at corp store.
