High-pitched whine

It is impossible to listen to the Bionic over headphones, plugged into the car stereo, or other amplifiers.  Every time an app... any app, including Verizon's own... accesses the audio circuit, it generates a high-pitched whine that remains until the music stops.

This is a well-known problem, and all we have is a long list of bugs and a vague hope for a tentative update to fix a bug that has no disclosed cause.  The idea seems to be that we'll all sit tight waiting for the phone to work the way it was advertised.  But, by the time Verizon and its vendor get around to announcing that there is no fix, it will be too late to rescind the purchase.

I hope Verizon is listening.  This is no way to treat customers.  You guys knew about the problem before you sold me the phone.  You guys sell these devices as an infotainment center, and tout the high-quality sound and video.  But you leave a nasty hardware, firmware, or OS bug like this?

Where I live, that's called fraud.

Hi,

I have the same issue.

I went into a local corporate store and tried the demo units and tried a unit from a rep.

ALL had the whine.

A couple were worse than mine.

This, to me does not sound like a software fix.

I'm well outside the return period.

I guess, I'll start asking for refuses until I get one that does not have the issue.

They'll either fix it or continue to send me units.

I can definitely see how annoying that noise can be.  I did a little research on this issue and it seems to be a known problem.  The bug was escalated to Motorola and a software update scheduled for mid November will be released.  This will resolve your issue.  I hope this helps.  Thanks.

Thanks Sam,

I get more of pops and crackles but I assume it'll also be fixed.  Good to hear!
