LOL this thread is funny. Who cares about 2.2 The droid x rocks. Sure it will be a plus. Mass refunds? Why? The phone works perfectly fine. Not everyone cares about flash. Wasnt this the EXACT same story when 2.1 was promised with earlier phones? "wheres my 2.1, blah blah"

Good point.  I'd also like to point out that if you cannot live without 2.2,  why don't you have it installed already?  It's widely available.

Taybo, your last 2 posts are really big of you.

There's no doubt that its been a maddening wait for the update. Not to mention waiting for whatever updates that remedies the low function ringing volume on mine (bought it on the first day).

And I NEVER want to make light of the folks with real problems. This place is here for users to help each other, along with the occasional Verizon person looking in. But it's the temper-tantrum nature of some posts that set some folks off, me included. And frankly, as had been suggested before now, some of us could respond better to that nature of post.

Good luck and (loooong sigh) happy waiting...:smileyhappy:

I guess I don't understand why the 2.2 update is such a big deal. Does your phone work?? Can you make and recieve calls, texts, use the browser... etc....  Let Verizon do their job and make sure the update is going to be bug free... Wud you rather have an update that screws your phone up because they rushed and cut corners or wait a bit longer than expected to make sure that it is right.  Remember its just a phone, I cant believe how some people are soooo consumed with the FROYO update.... if u wanted it sooo badly why didnt u wait to get a Droid 2. Have some patience people!!!!!

CM, relax, if you've read any of my postings, there are several occasions where I've warned folks about the the problems that the Dinc folks are having with the 2.2 update. If you'd relax a bit, you'd see that we are on the same page

Well, it is to geeks. It doesn't have to add auto-pilot or make coffee while warming your car as you dress for work. Geeks just want the latest and greatest. Period. It's in the DNA.

Does your phone work??

Why, yes it does, remarkably well, and thanx for asking!

Can you make and recieve calls, texts, use the browser... etc....

Yes, again, what a caring soul you are!

Let Verizon do their job and make sure the update is going to be bug free...

Again, you've not been paying attention to my postings. Lord help us if the update has the same results as some Dinc owners...

Would  (sorry) you rather have an update that screws your phone up because they rushed and cut corners or wait a bit longer than expected to make sure that it is right?

All together now...."read my postings about the folks suffering through the Dinc 2.2 update". Then report back with a 4-page summary on yer findings.

 Remember its just a phone.

People say the memory starts slipping after hitting 50 years old (I'm 52). But who says that? YOUNG PEOPLE. And, I wake up every morning, thank the Lord, fully cognizant of the fact that my Dx is indeed a phone.

I cant believe how some people are soooo consumed with the FROYO update....

Again (saying that a lot here, eh?), those pesky geeks! Glad I don't make phones...:smileyvery-happy:

if you wanted it sooo badly why didn't you wait to get a Droid 2?

I wanted that big gorgeous screen that has allowed me to enjoy casual (but safe) surfing without dragging out a notebook. Plus it's really KEWL! (yes, I have been hanging around here too long)

Have some patience people!!!!!

Okay. Patience is "gee, my phone is working well and as it is supposed to, but it would be really cool to have the 2.2 update. I guess I shall have to wait until Verizon and Moto agree that the update is indeed safe, ready, willing, and able. Oh, yeah, and not screw up the Dx like it has on a lot of Dincs (Apparently, it hasn't screwed up ALL the Dincs, but a substantial number of them. And various owners have a few suggestions that they have tried on their own phones and seem to be successful).

Impatience would be....well, look around, do I REALLY need to cite examples of impatience??...:smileyvery-happy:

Okay, CM, it's entirely possible that your post wasn't directed at me specifically and if not, then just get a laugh at my silliness and have a good day.. It's a slow morning and I decided to have some fun with it since it followed my post.

My only fear in all of this, as I have said several times before, is that the people having real problems with their phone will feel as though people like me, who have had no issues whatsoever with their phones (except for that pesky low-volume ringer) are belittling the people with problems. Absolutely not.. Obviously, emotions are going to run high when problems are encountered, and a few people see this forum as a punching bag or a place to vent the high-strung frustrations. It's understandable. But also, that sort of posting serves no one, especially, the original poster. If nothing else, it puts off someone that might otherwise be willing to offer ideas and suggestions that could be helpful to a resolution to their issues.

One reason I wish they would get on with the update is to see if some of the issues reported here are solved. Otherwise, I'm happy to manually check for the update each morning, make a long sigh, and get on with my day, knowing that so far, the Dx has and hopefully will continue to serve me well. And wish the people plagued with problems a quick and successful resolution. Because, as I can attest, a properly working Dx is a really great thing.

Everyone have a great weekend!

Hey wait a minute now..... I am a Geek...... a 50 year old geek too...... but always latest and greatest is not quite in my DNA (Not enough money)..... and the Droid X was the first phone that I bought without putting my hands on it first in the store ( I just knew that if I didn't order it early in the morning on the first day, I would be waiting a long time to get one)

But like Gerio, I check updates in the morning, click OK to the up to date message, then go about my business........

although I must admit.... I also check updates at night too :smileyvery-happy:

For all those so eager to update to Andriod 2.2, I suggest you take a few minutes and read some of the post in the HTC Incredible forum on the 2.2 release. You probably won't be in such a hurry to upgrade if you do.

for some of us it`s not the 2.2 update that we want. There are issues with some of the x`s that cant be resolved with 2.2. It requires bug fixes that for what ever reason motorola has decided to wait to release til they roll all of them in with froyo. Known issues with the phone and there are fixes for them but instead of releasing those fixes they make us wait til they work the bugs out of 2.2.

I am no legal expert, but I believe when the CEO's of VZW and Motorola promised in the launch of the X that the 2.2 update would arrive during late summer, many people bought the phone understanding that it's potential would come to fruition in a short order. I will be demanding a refund on 9/23 for false advertisement.  X owners essentially have the body of a Cadillac with the engine of of a VW beetle under the hood.  I understand software takes time, but don't make promises that cannot be kept.

I believe Taybo may be on to something.  I live in Ohio and we have some of the strongest consumer protection laws in the nation.

I already tangled with Verizon and won.  Back when I had a BB Storm and we all know what kind of problems they had, Verizon out of the goodness of their heart decided to give me a BB Storm 2.  What they did not tell me was that they were taking away my NE2 discount.  They never said they were doing a manager approved upgrade or using my NE2 discount.  The line I was given was this is for your troubles with the Store and the Storm 1.

When I went to upgrade the DX, I found out I was not eligible because of this.  Lets just say I was not happy.

I complained to the Attorney General's office and they forwarded the complaint to Verizon.  It took a few days, but Verizon eventually conceded they were wrong and that they could not take my NE2 discount without my verbal or written authorization.

So don't discount that you can not contact your Attorney General's office once Fall officially starts.  That is assuming 2.2 is not out yet.

Corporations have to honor their committments.  They may have more lawyers, but the saying says that you can not fight City Hall.  In the end, I am sure the state you live in will fight harder for you as you pay their salaries and in most cases elect them to office (i.e. Attorney General)

It might be that they want to make sure any fixes they put out to fix some of the known problems are compatible with Froyo.... but I do agree that fixes should be out for things that can be fixed with a firmware update. I only assume that they are making sure the firmware doesn't break down with Froyo.\

It would be nice if Verizon would explain if this is the case or not..... so people will understand what is happening... if people know what is happening, they would have a better understanding and feel better about it.

Sorry that you are having problems with your X..... I hope that updates to fix get to you faster than Froyo
