I have new Droid 2. The Hot Spot feature only lasts about 5 minutes and disconnects. What a pain. The MiFi went forever. What gives? Also, on the road, the automobile package hookup with power from the in-car power source charges the window-mounted Droid 2 GPS for about an hour or two and then the power starts to discharge. Phone has to be power-recycled to start getting power again. I suspect an over-heating problem. Thoughts?

No help on the hotspot issue. I haven't tried it yet. Sorry.
On the charging issue, I've had the same thing happen with my Droid 1. Ended up just getting a vent mount (rather than the window mount) so that the phone would stay nice and cool, and haven't had a problem with it since. I suspect your suspicion of overheating is correct.

I have listed some information below that may help with the Hotspot issue you are experiencing.
Step. 1 - Ensure WiFi is disabled. (instruction below)

Step. 2 - Try switching the hotspot channel (Step 6 in the article under channel)
***To access settings, 3G Mobile Hotspot must be disabled (Off).

Step. 3 - Try changing the encryption
http://search.vzw.com/?do=viewdoc&id=34808&p=null (Step 6 in the article under security)
Step. 4 - Try relocating the device. (Something in the immediate location could be affecting the service received)
Step. 5 - Soft reset (power off the device, pull the battery out for 20 seconds and place it back in)
I hope this helps.
