How do I import my contacts for Hotmail in to my Droid X

I have my hotmail account on my Droid X but I can not access my contacts for my hot mail account. Can any one help me with importing them in to my phone or do I have to manually enter them in myself?

export contacts from hotmail, importing into gmail, which gets contacts to the phone.
