I don't want to store my videos online, I just want to transfer them onto my computer. Currently it doesn't recognize the file type.
Suggestions?

Gonna assume you are on a PC because I believe a Mac can natively open these files.
The Droid X saves the files with a 3gp extention. These files can be natively opened in Windows 7 with the standard Media Player, but you obviously don't have Windows 7 or you wouldn't be asking this question.
3gp files can be opened in Quicktime which is Apple's free video player. You can also use a free program called VLC Media Player by a company called VideoLAN.
Both can be found easily by Googling.
Good Luck.

Do a web search for 3PG file player, you should find a number of free players... I do not suggest Quicktime because it has a bad habit of taking over all file type rights, so eveything that you open will be forced to play to this plager adn I think the app is clunky and user friendly. I can give you a good free application for this but I can until later because I am not need my system.
Just checked system and VLC Media Player is the same one I am using and that is a nice selection to go with, its a small app and does not modify the system to play 3pg files. The other options is to look for a codac pack that will allow the older version of Windows Media Player to play the files also.. I use to use them before Windows 7 released but I cant think pf where I got them originally but if you google Windows Media Olayer (I am guessing) 10 3pg codac pack you may find it, they usually include codacs for 100s of file formats, audio and videos..
Good Luck

If you install that free codec pack, make sure you hit decline on the 500 other malware things it tried to install also.
