How to Sync Gmail Calendar with Droid 2 Calendar?

Just got the Droid 2. I want to add items to the phone calendar, but when I try the phone tells me that I must first sync my phone calendar with another existing calendar through "settings" and "accounts." When I get to accounts, i do not see any options for syncing a calendar.

Does anyone know how to sync the Droid 2 calendar with a gmail calendar?

Do you have a gmail account when you look in Settings -> Accounts? If yes, then that's the account you need. You may not have a google calendar created yet to sync with...

Try going to calendar.google.com, and if prompted log in with your gmail username and password. It "should" create a calendar for you automagically and after that should allow you to create things on your D2.

I had the same problem. I went to Google calendar on my laptop, and found a way to enter my phone number and it sent something to my phone. Next day my calendar was mysteriously working. You have to look for the right tab, I don't remember exactly what it was.
