How to remove Skype from my HTC Incredible

Skype was preinstalled on my phone when I got it.  I don't use or want  it yet it always seems to be on and using battery power (I assume).  Is there some way to delete it from the phone?   The standard "delete" function is blocked.

It cant be uninstalled. None of the preloaded stuff can be (without really messing around with the OS).
