I just bought the phone and when I connect it to my laptop it seems to be synchronizing after I have copied the files from itunes to the Droid, but after it still tells me there is no music found?????  I need step by step on how to transfer the music over.

Thanks.

You'll need an app for this. I can't remember the name of the app that does this atm, but if you do a search on the smartphone forums, you will find it.

I'm thinking, though, that the reason you can't transfer them is because they are protected. A lot of iTunes music that you buy is protected so you cannot transfer it.

Remember the HTC Droid Incredible 2 comes with a 16GB SD card inside your phone.  Open up your phone and take it out.

This sd card holds loads of information.  You will need a SD card reader (sold separately) to plug the 16GB SD card into your computer.

Here is what you need to do:

 1) Take the SDcard out of your Droid X and then plug theSD card into the reader, which must be inserted into your computer port.  It looks like a mini USB adapter.  (I don't know if Verizon sells them separately, but one comes with the sd card when you purchase a sd 32GB card or smaller at the Verizonwireless store.

 2) Click on My Computer then right click Removable software and click on Open.  Click New folder on top to name your folder (ex. music, video etc).  Once this is open then Open up Itunes.

 3) In Itunes you can drag over any Song or Video you want and place it into the removable folder.    Caution:  some of the videos might not work.

 4) When you are finished go back to the sd card folder by hitting the back button on left top.  Then Right Click removable hardware and then click Eject.  (For the Videos you will have to open up the GALLERY APP on youe cell phone and for music open Music on your cell phone).

  5) Remove SD card and place back into the HTC Droid Incredible 2.

  6) Click on the Music App and open it up.

Here you can set the music as a RINGTONE.   Click the song you want.  Then click = button chose contact or phone ringtone. You can do this for each song.  They will go to your Ringtone list.

This has gotten so much easier in the last few months! Syncing music now requires almost no effort -- there are two good options:

  1. If you install DoubleTwist on your laptop and DoubleTwist and DoubleTwist Airplay on your phone -- you will be able to wirelessly sync a playlist to your phone.  It is an automatic syncing process, once you have it set up, and it works flawlessly.
  2. The other option, which I've moved to, is to upload all of your music from your computer up to either the Amazon Cloud (which gives you free unlimited storage with the purchase of one song) or the Google Cloud (music.google.com).  As with most newer google products - Google music is still in Beta.  I've tried both and like the Google Music Player better.  The cool thing about this option is that you are not limited to the storage space on your phone -- you can play any music in your library via Wifi or a data connection, and download music from the cloud to your phone easily for local storage.

Either option eliminated the need to do a traditional Ipod sync.

Double Twist is a free app that will let you transfer music as well as playlists.  It is free and you will need to install a version on both your computer and phone.  They make both Mac and PC versions.  Also, iSyncr is a paid app that will work as well.  Both apps will attempt to transfer your album art, but if you find that some don't transfer there is a free app called CoverArt that will find the covers for you.
