How to--voice announce for incoming text

I have my Droid X set up to voice announce incoming calls, based on my contact list.  Can I set this up for incoming text messages?

The device has a option to do this but I had nothing but issues with the stock app so I downloaded Vlingo that works flawlessly, its called Safe Reader option in app. You can dowload free from market, check it out at http://www.appbrain.com/app/vlingo-virtual-assistant/com.vlingo.client

Actually I would like for the phone to announce the person that is sending the incoming text to my phone.  My incoming calls are set up that way---it will announce the name of the caller.  I had this feature on LG Env Touch, and would like it for my X.

In looking at Vlingo, it appears that is voice recognition software that I would use to control my phone?  Or does it also have the name announce feature for incoming texts to my phone?

I appreciate your help.
