With no other info, I would say you have something on your phone causing issues like a bad App possibly. Are you running the native txt app or have you downloaded one of the ones from the market? Is it txting that is force closing or is it just other random apps.
That being said, if you have a stock Incredible and the phone is acting up I would take the phone into a VZW store and replace it.
I've had the same issue a couple of times. I just got done texting someone. I go back to check and see when I sent it or something, and all my texts are gone. I'm not running any different apps for messaging. but I hate losing all the old texts. I've tried looking into the settings to find something, and it doesn't exist. Not clearly anyway. If anyone knows how to make this stop, any help would be great. Thanks.
Terribly annoying. Especially since I backed up several hundred SMS messages when I migrated from my Droid. Now, sporadically, ALL of my SMS and MMS messages disappear. Just today I lost about twenty pictures MMS'd to me over the last couple of weeks. that's when I found this post.
Sounds like a problem with the saving operations of the phone at the time of the message sent or received.
Although I sometimes say this too much I would check your task killer if you have one for android/htc necessary services you may be killing.
Maybe Android has a cap for messaging saves? I'm prob in the 100's currently and no accidental deletes yet...
None of my business as to why you have hundreds of backed up messages but maybe for business reasons? This case i would go to a decent VZW store and get some real answers.
Are these messages from another phone being imported to Android? maybe its a compatibility issue and Android is just dumping it... not sure if it can do that... maybe it just wont recognize them.
OK same thing is happening to to every day 2 to 4 times a day,

head one quick fix was to not force close but take battery out while message is up and it wont delete history
but unconfirmed (i havnt tried it yet)
I have a Verizon store near by i can check with them but figured id see some solution here but still no luck
I've had the exact same problem. Often, my will freeze up while I'm using it and delete everything, but I've also had times when the phone was on standby and would delete them all without me even doing anything; they would just be gone the next time I went to look in my texting inbox. I've tried removing and reinstalling literally every app on the phone, as well as a factory reset, to no avail.
I have this same problem with mines. When I recieved my first phone, it did it so often, I called verizon, and was shipped a new one, my replacement is now doing the same thing, it is very annoying, especially when I have pictures, or conversations which I m currently in the midst of. verizon please fix this.
don't know if anyone is using apps for keyboard/text/tones??? i had abslotuely no problems for 2 months. i had downloaded zedge for wallpapers and tones....but never changed any alert tones. last week i changed my notification tone to one from the app. the very next text i received caused a force close. when i went back in ALL of my texts were gone. i know my issues has to do with the app and not the phone (easy to isolate since it happened immediately after switching to an app tone). it's a bummer because it makes me scared to try any of the keyboards, messaging, tones, etc apps that are out there. oh yeah....the phone also got "glitchy" a few weeks back when i used a wallpaper from an app. i've uninstalled apps that have anything to do with email/text....even if the app just contains tones for notifications. i just can't risk losing all of my emails or texts. i happen to like the stock programs for all of this....but i did want to try out some of the apps for some of it.
wow...i'm glad to know that it's not just happening to me. this has happened 7 - 8 times in the last month...i kept thinking i was doing something wrong... they were not able to help me with this so vzw sent me a "like new" replacement...not sure how i feel about this...it hasn't done it for 3 days now...(just uninstalled a lot of apps, don't know if that had anything to do with the "force close" issue)...maybe it' s ok now...
