So.... giving into both my 10 year old daughter and the hype of the new Verizon I-phone, we took the plunge and got it for her on Friday. Fantastic phone, fast, good quality image, Netflix... few other things the Iphone has that the droid doesn't, but ya know.... I still love my Droid X soooooo much more! Glad its her phone and that I didn't switch for it. I think I would have been oober disappointed.

Can I ask what you like better about the Droid X? I'm thinking about switching to it.

For beginners, the screen size! The picture quality is awesome on the I-phone, but the size of the Droid X screen blows the I-phone away! I guess the biggest diffrerence is the OS and the layout. As user firendly they say that the I-phone is, I think learnig the Droid X came much more natural to me, if that makes any sense? The Iphone seems to take a little more knowledge of how to work it where as the Droid X seemed more intuitive, to me at least.
We compared the quality of the pictures between her Ipohone and my Droid X, they were pretty neck and neck... watching movies on hers was a much clearer picturer, but the screen size made up for it on mine. It seems the X was a lot faster in downloading apps and perhaps just faster over all. Both fantastic phones though!! In addition, the overall set up was sort of a drag, with the Iphone. With the Droid X you set up your google account and go, with the iphone you seemed to be dependent on an external computer for that direct conection to I-phone. It seems to me that the only way you can recieve updates is through a direct connection with an outside PC for the Iphone where as its all done over the air with the Drod X.
What are other peoples thoughts?

Be very careful about which Apps you allow your daughter to download. There are TONS of reports of parents allowing their children to download apps which then offer the child ingame items and then bill to the account. One story was featured on our local news of a child who the parents had purchase passwords enabled and the child unknowingly racked up over $600 in charges to the account.
