I live in the heart of Pittsburgh, and I haven't had 3G service since I got my droid yesterday. I can only access internet and the market via Wi-fi. Is this something screwed up with the network, or something they guy at vzw store screwed up at the store. If I can fix it myself I will, I don't really have the time to run back to the vzw store untill next weekend. Thanks for any ideas.

Alright. Lets take it a bit slower. You live in PA, which is where most large companies are deciding to play their fastest internet/3G Speeds to date.
Loot at your phone, do you get reception?
And, if you have Wi-Fi on from the get-go, and connect to a wireless net work, you may have forgot to turn off Wi-Fi so that you can experience 3G.

If Wifi is turned on and you are connected to the wifi service the DROID is always going to use Wifi as the default because WiFi is faster than 3g.
You can try out 3g two ways: turn off your WiFi (install the Power widget which lets you touch an icon to quickly turn it off, or go to an area your phone can't connect to a Wifi device. It will then revert to 3g in order to maintain contact with the Web and other 3g services.
Normally, it seems, you would only want to turn off WiFi to save battery power if you're not in an area with Wifi access.

I've done both of the above posts. When I turn off wi-fi, I only have signal bars and no 3g signal. not even a 3g indicator at the top. I tried it at the grocery store, where I had no access to wi-fi, and the same thing. No 3g icon at the top, and no connection to the internet. I downloaded the widget to turn it off from the home screen. My browser says no network connection. My mobile network state in the status menu says disconnected.

I don't know, that's what I'm thinking. Everything else works great, just no 3g.

Attempted to send a picture message. Failure. No 3G at all. Gonna have to go to the vzw store I suppose, but I would really like to have this going today, cause I kinda need it.

Try a quick reprogram....*228....then option #1. Check your signal status.

Sorry that I didn't reply sooner.
Try checking the actual settings. Home Screen>Menu>Settings>Wireless Settings, and see if you are connected via 3G or not.
