OK, I'm whining a little bit, but all opinions(except rude, nasty ones) are appreciated. I have been looking into getting a new phone for a couple of months now-reading reviews, forums, ratings on verizon site, you name it. Currently I have a LG Voyager. I have liked it a lot. Mainly I have used it for texting; calls, of course; internet to check weather, facebook, and email on the website. I never set up the apps for facebook or email on it.
About a month ago, I decided that I liked the Ally(I am cheap, and the price is definitely right!), but wanted to wait until the Droid X came out to see if I would like it. We are also buying my daughter an Incredible, so didn't want to spend TOO MUCH at one time. In the meantime, I learned that the Ally won't let you use fingernails or a stylus on the touch screen. This might not seem like a prob. to some, but I have long fingernails and know that would take some getting used to. Anyway, from what I read, the Droid X seems like something I would really like. Most of the comments show people either love it or hate it, no middle ground. The Incredible for me isn't out of the question, either, but I do like a physical keyboard(yes, I know the droid x doesn't have one).
So, sorry for making this so long, but any opinions? Thanks in advance!
Edit-I've never had a smart phone before, so how hard are these phones to get used to?

Coming from a BlackBerry Storm, I can say that the Droid X is very easy to use and setup. One issue for you will be your nails, you can't use them on the touchscreen.

This one, too! Ugh! lol
Upon further review, all three of them have the capacitive touch screens. Blah, guess I will have to get used to it.

The LG Ally look is like your Voyager. Has a touch screen plus the keyboard. Having an only touch screen phone like the Droid X or Incredible takes some getting used to. The more you type on the touch screen phone it should get better. Droid X has swype already on it. The swype feature makes its touch-screen keyboard easy to use. The time saving tool allows users to slide their fingers over the keyboard, rather than lifting them, when typing a word and yet still avoid typos.
All in all I would say pick the Droid X phone instead. Maybe you should head to your local Verizon store though. They'll have the phones on display there. You can play around with the Droid X, Incredible and Ally. Get a feel for each phone. Which ever phones fits you the best, go with that.

I have done that with the Ally, but haven't been able to do it since the X came out. Our local store is mainly just a bill-pay station, but hopefully soon I can play with the X.

Almost all devices that will come out will most likely use the capacitive touch screen because it has became the popular feature which responds to the finger contact instead on calculate the position of a sylus or nail in your case... Now keep in mind that the Incredible has been in and out of stock for some while and hopefully the X does not follow this pattern but I really think you would probally enjoy the X because of screen size it makes it very easy to type on in my opion.

it's worth losing the nails
the keypads seem to be larger than I thought and it is very easy to switch from CAPS LOCK to lowercase to 123456789@#$%^&
However, I used to the the 'texting queen' of the Envy2 and I am now a 1 finger typer.....I just can't get used to using two hands with this keyboard.
The droid X also has a feature where as you type a word it suggests words underneath the line where you are typing and if you see the one you one you just click on it. This does save some keystrokes and I like it, however, I REALLY miss my real keyboard of the envy2....texting isnt fun like it used to be, but all the other wonderful features make up for it !!

I have the Env2 still right now plus one of the android phones. On my G1 I have a keyboard too plus the touch screen. I would be willing to try an only touch screen phone, but I know it would be quite a difference. It is something I know I would consider in the feature.I do like how the Swype is on the Droid X so I imagen typing is much better & less errors/typo's.

Also don't forget about the X voice to text feature, it works pretty well for me, I have been replying to email and text by just reciting replies and allow phone to text it for me.... Its not perfect but I haven't had to retype reply much..

I don't think the nails are going anywyere for a phone! hehe I'm sure I will get used to whatever phone I end up with. Does anybody have anything else to say about the phones? Positives or negatives? Why did you pick the phone you did?

My nails stand out some from the tip of my finger and I just got the Droid X. It allows me to use my finger tips easily and isn't awkward. Screens easily scroll and typing is also easy.

Balckberry Storm does not have anything no this phone not in the same league IMHO. The phone rocks and I got me and my wife one and she loves it and she is not a tecky like me. We found some very cool things for the kids and the screen is easy to use and everything so far is rock solid. I went through 7 Storms in 1-1/2 years so looking forward to hopefully having only one phone for the next 2 years,
