I've had a Droid 2 for almost a full year now and it was alright until the last two weeks.
Now everytime I listen to music on it, it shuts itself off. Also, when I try to use certain apps, the phone's Back button just activates by itself kicking me out of what I was doing.
Now today, the touchscreen has become basically unusable. Whenever I try to enter my lock pattern, it goes crazy. It doesn't follow my finger at all and I get locked out of my own phone. I used the 'Forgot my pattern' option and finally got in, only by deleting the pattern. Now when I try to swipe or access anything from the homescreen, it drags down the notification bar or does other random things like try to add widgets.
My phone is pretty much unusable at this point. What good is a touchscreen phone if the touchscreen doesn't work? I've been with Verizon for about 5 years and been on the Droid since the Droid 1 came out. I would appreciate some help that doesn't consist of canned responses. Thanks.

Sounds like you are experiancing a side effect of corrupt files, since Android has a defragmenting issue from time to time, user experiance issues like what you have discribed after users install and remove apps over time..
My suggestion is to backup and do a hard reset...
1. Turn the Droid 2 off. If it’s frozen and you cannot turn it off, pull and replace the battery.
2. Open the keyboard and press the X key while pressing Power. The device will power on. Keep holding the X button down until a white triangle with yellow exclamation mark appears.
3. Press the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons simultaneously to bring up the menu. (You may have to try this a few times before it works)
4. Select the Wipe data factory reset option. Use the Power key to confirm it.
5. Tap wipe data/factory reset then tap OK.
6. Select Yes – delete all user data.
7. Highlight reboot system now is highlighted then tap OK.

I did the hard reset and it was working fine until now. It just rebooted itself for no reason. I will keep an eye on it throughout the next few days and see if it does that again. The phone does seem more responsive after the hard reset though. Thank you!

I have no help for you other than to see you are not alone. It has to do with the software update and the software cannot be reversed back to the previous version I was told. I have the same issues that started 2 weeks ago coinciding with the update. I was told Motorola has no patch yet and that I should factory reset. Not sure how that solves the problem. I was also offered a certified replacement. I told her there was nothing wrong with the phone until the software was installed! if I hear something or find something I will post.
