I'm trying to enter my contacts into my phone, and I added like three people, but it's only showing one contact.
And is there any way I could make it so my email addresses aren't connected to my phone?

Don't worry you will soon be having to get your 2od 3rd and 4th one!!!! I am 8 months in and on my 3rd and it is defective as well.
I had that problem when I added a Beth to my contacts it put it under another contact Betty. Guess the droid needs spelling help!!!

Would you give it a rest mjyawn? The OP is asking a legitimate question, and probably doesn't need to know about your WELL documented problems with the Droid. If you don't have something constructive to say, then don't respond at all.
Sorry to jump in like this, but I'm tired of seeing your posts about how crappy the Droid is in EVERY thread in here.

No problems here with mine at all. In fact two of them, mine and my sons.
I guess at my age I learned to take care of electronic devices that cost $500 to replace... <shrug>

The easiest way is to log into gmail from a web browser and enter your contacts there. Then it'll be pulled down to the device once it syncs.

I've had a similar issue with adding a contact named Michael, to an existing contact I had for Mike. I'm not sure if the phone is trying to be overly smart and take into consideration the shortening of names or not. I simply took of the guys last name(it was a father and son and they had the same last name). Once the last name was off, I went back and added his last name and didn't have the issue again.
Another issue you may run into if you are a Facebook user is adding all of your FB friends as contacts. You'll find some of them have phone numbers but many just have email addresses. I found this a bit annoying so to only show contacts that actually have phone numbers would mean less scrolling for the people I'm actually trying to call. To do this:
Click on the Phone Icon
Click on Contacts
Click on the list button (right beside the one that looks like a house)
Click display options
Check mark "only contacts with phones"
You can also select which contacts you want displayed as well. For instance, I have a comcast account with contacts, the gmail account I made for the droid with contacts and my corporate accounts contacts. I can select which of these I do or don't want displayed as well.

Bless you, LTCusson, for your clear and concise explanation of how to add contacts to the Droid phone. After reading a lot of responses that did not begin to address the Q, it was a relief to see your response. Thanks!! I also am new to the Droid and sometimes the seemingly "simple" things can make you nuts trying to figure them out.

I had the same issue, my phone was linking the name lauren with the name laurie. I was able to go into laurie and under my options "unlink" the contacts. Not sure if all the droids have the unlink option, but it was super quick and you dont have to change your contact names.

Good luck and get used to confusion, at least as long as you own this. Unless your a droid geek you will spend many hours tyring to fix their phone problems or app problems. All while the community will tell you things like, "may be", "should be", "probably" or "might be". If you have no life and enjoy working on your phone weekly then you have found the perfect product, community and phone to waste your life. Any never forget - you can always factory reset and start over. Yes I mean all the way from the beginning. Good luck.

Thank you so much KMcA. I had the problem of my Droid linking names after syncing with my Facebook, especially an uncle and a cousin with the same first and last name. 😄 My phone doesn't have an "unlink" button, but I clicked on the contact, then the options button (the four lines), then "edit contact," click on the options button again and you have a choice to "join" or "separate." Awesome, just separated my cousin from my uncle and joined my uncle to where I had his numbers. Thanks again!

Really People? I have had all the OTA updates in the last month. I am still on my original droid that I bought in november 2009. Either you people are rough with your phones, or you are downloading crap! The original droid is the only phone with a true open system, allowing you do make it yours. I have had no issues with the updates or anything else for that matter. You can download the operation manual for all your user needs. Get a clue folks, everything I am reading seems like operator error. LOVE MY DROID!

You know the only problem I had was the Facebook issue and that was as simple as turning off the facebook contacts. I'm not trying to be mean or insulting but there are instructions to the droid as well as to Android so if you can't figure it out you could always try looking at those. Also my Verizon store gave classes on how to use Android, granted they were at 7 AM on a Saturday morning and there wasn't a chance in He.. that I was getting up that early on my day off for something I could figure out on my own but if your not a geek then hey get up and go. Also I hear people talk about how they are on their 4th or 5th Droid I have friends that got them the day they came out and are still on the first one. So I don't know if maybe ya'll are all in the same area and got a bad batch of phones or maybe some people are just really rough on your phone but man 4th or 5th phone.

You have no idea... promise you I know more about this phone and probably any other than you, and this is my 5th...
I can troubleshoot issues to determine if it is soft or hardware. There are several issues with this phone. The software is near perfect IF verizon would leave it alone.
Don't talk down to people that have been given faulty phones, just for moto/verizon to save money.
