I said goodbye to my iphone 3GS (& AT&T Wireless) and said Hello Moto (Droid and VZW).

I am a Mac. To the core (i7, to be exact). It was a difficult decision for me to leave the integrated Apple experience I've had since the 1st iPhone. It is made easier by being able to make successful calls (not dropped or failed, etc.) and not just having a fat iPod Touch.

I never want to carry two devices again - one to make/receive calls and one to listen to music (which I do religiously). The VZW network was my first choice. The Motorola Droid was the hands-down leader in the Android world for me. I kinda always missed the physical keyboard and have had very positive experiences with Motorola in the past (although I musy admit that it's been a while since I've had a motorola device).

Kudos to Motorola for making such a tech-forward, elegant and functional device. So far, I am really impressed. The iPhone 3Gs is no slouch and a tough competitor. Google is also a favorite entity of mine. Always has been. With that said, I am gunning for Android. 2.1 is something I can't wait for, but applaud Google for making us be patient for. (Good things come to those who wait).

I'll say, the Droid is a wonderfully tech-forward device with a pleasant and intuitive UI/Experience. I've missed little so far, with the exception of a music player that offers EQ features and confidence that what I'm hearing is more than a feed from a HD.

So, I pray that both the Droid and VZW hold my affection and mindshare beyond the 30-day trial period.

I love these stories. Goes to show that for some people a phone is only as good as the network it's on. :smileyhappy:

I am new to Mac and am so happy, I would go back to the stone age before I would ever own knowingly another Windows based product. I've been a satisfied Verizon customer from the Airtouch days. I hope Apple and Verizon will come to terms soon, then we could have the best of both worlds. I hope they can work it out before my patience runs out.

Hi! thanks for your thoughts. i have an iPod touch and i am ready to jump vzw for att for the iphone because i have a mac. i use the ipod as a PDA and all along i've wanted it all to be in one place: phone, calendar, contacts, and i guess the music and whatnot, but the real goal for me is a good phone on a great network that will TALK TO MY MAC. in your droid experiences, and you mac experiences, have you had trouble getting your mac to talk to your droid - how do you update the mac proprietary applications like addressbook and ical and your e-mail? does it work? is there a way to make this happen? i agree with all the philosophical open source sentiments, but in the end i 1) need a good network and 2) want my phone to be able to talk to my mac. or do you see all this eventually becoming an aspect of "cloud computing" that gmail is clearly pursuing? thank you for your help!

Nice to hear someone coming from ATT and the iPhone sharing positive experiences. Sometimes we get jaded in our VZW world and start thinking that the grass is greener on the other side, when it clearly isn't.
