Used to be able to drag unwanted programs from home page into a trash bin. Now, no trash bin and I have icons on my home page that I do not want and cannot get rid of! Was this upgrade announced?
While I am having some other major problems, I was able to figure that one out... now the trash bin appear on the top of the home screen.
Thanks - but the second I touch the ICON it launches it so I am unable to drag it.
When I hold down on on "Add to Dock" comes up and there is no way around it.
This sounds more like your app drawer and not your home screen.
In your app drawer, you can now create folders to hide some of your unwanted icons, but preloaded apps still are not removable.

I'm still able to toss icons into the trash bin. It's the same process as before. You have to long touch the icon until it "vibrates" and the trash bin appears at the top, instead of the bottom which I actually like, and you can drag it up there. The functionality actually seems much smoother after the update than what it was before. Trying to put things in the bin before was a PITA. LOL
Thanks for the information everyone. I researched this issue in more detail and found the update did not remove this option on the Droid 2 device and it should still be available. If you have attempted to power the phone off and on and remove the battery from the phone for 1-2 minutes and the issue continues, you can first try putting your phone into safe mode. The last option would be a hard reset. Listed below are steps to enable and disable safe mode and to perform a master reset.
Safe Mode temporarily disables all applications that have been installed via the Android Market. Performing this troubleshooting step is used to determine whether a 3rd party application is the cause of an Operating System.
To Enable safe mode:

To perform a hard reset:
Note: Performing a hard reset will remove ALL data including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications.
