If the Droid X ships with 2.1 how do you go about upgrading to 2.2 Froyo?

Shortly after you receive and activate your phone you will receive a "software update" notification. Just follow the instructions it provides.
If you do not get a notification or don't want to wait. Go to Settings> About phone> System updates. Then it will connect to the update server and you can choose the update and download it then.
Make sure you have at least 50% battery charge when downloading and installing the updates, do not powerdown or remove the battery. If you have Wifi the download will be faster.
After the phone reboots itself it may take a long time to boot. Don't do anything unless its been like 20 min and the phone is still frozen.
Then come here and search for "factory reset" and/or Cache Wipe.
