If you receive the HTC Droid Incredible Froyo update, please post here.

It is August 18th and we all know the rumors said we would get Froyo today on our Incredibles. If you receive the HTC Droid Incredible Froyo update, please post here so those of us waiting will know that the update is starting to download. It should be downloading by batches of phones. Once we know it has started, at least we'll all know it's then just going to be a short time until we are in an update batch.

My wife had the update waiting when she checked her phone at 9am this morning, I'm still waiting.

She's got a 917 area code and I'm 646. Her phone's paid by a corporate account while mine is tied to a different larger corporate account, but it is my personal phone that I pay for.

I've got my phone about a month before her and have been a longer VZW customer, so no idea what the distribution order is.

there's no rhyme or reason. it's completely random. a vzn rep "guessed" that updates are done by ESN #....but admitedly, he was guessing.

I'm 248 area code in Michigan. Received it 8:33 this morning (as in, it's rebooting right now). I wonder what all the hub bub about this update is... the performance increase sounds promising, but the additional features don't sound that great. I mean... new widgets, tethering... it's not what I bought my phone for. Sorry all y'all that are going "why did he get the update and I didn't, it's not fair"

lol....i LOVE the "DROOOIIIID." i haven't got the ota yet....but i love that tone so much i downloaded it for my notification tone a while back. my wife HATES it. they push the update randomly. a wife could get it today and her husband may not get it for days. one rep said he guessed it was by esn #....but he admitted he was just guessing.

Just received less than an hour ago! A few changes to get used to (sound settings widget got unlinked--had to fnd the new one), but it's looking good for now. And love the flashlight!

I received my update this morning. I was in NYC 4 months ago and found the droid incredible so i purchased 3 of them. My phone rcvd the update and my wife and son phones have not. i am in the 502 area ....i like the new update...the 3g hotspot is really neat and also the text msg is a little different. Am i going to have to learn this phone all over again????? LOL....Very excited to see what else is new.....Good luck

okay did the update from android central. all the **bleep** stress i did waiting, i decided to do it...lol

it was quick and painless besides having to do minor extra steps to do it versus the OTA. it took less than 10 minutes. has everything they said it would. call clarity seems crisp on the speaker the voice dialing is cool. good job to all involved

now i am wondering i thought in this update the home screen would beable to go landscape. correct me if i am wrong but i thought that was one of the changes. froyo is good for you...lol

also i did put "no lock" back so i can use any of the buttons to wake the phone. unless someone knows of another unlock feature with in?

Is tethering with 2.2 free? I turned it on for giggles. Will Verizon charge per meg, per month, per day with Tethering?

Also, how can I turn off that **bleep** DROID message at startup? I really don't want my wife flying out of bed at 7am when I want to check my e-mail :smileyhappy:

Got mine at 4:00 am this morning. Illinois. Some of the changes I immediatly noticed: New 911 locator that can not be turned off. New look when making calls. New look with text messages. Everything else is still there and turned on. did not loose contacts, ringtones or anything like that.

So far, so good!

Got update 15 min ago 843 area code Charleston SC 9/01/2010 and if you select MPEG 4 video for the camcorder setting you will see the 720p vide res. Option ..Have not had time to really test any thing out .

But to those still waiting you don't have to keep going to check for updates, when I turned my phone on it said a system update was ready ..So your phone will tell you.

the verizon splash screen is gone with the update. now you get a "droid" screen followed by a "google" screen. got my ota last night (8/31) at 10 pm pacific time. in phoenix (but fyi....location doesn't matter....it's totally random).

I had notification on my phone this morning at 6:30AM EST here in Indianapolis. I updated to 2.2, and although I must say that web browsing has a slightly noticable speed increase, I am not sure what the hype was about.

I was also stoked to get the update, but even with the addition of integrated flash 10.1, several popular sites using flash will not work. Also, the amount of "Bloatware" installed that you can't remove is **bleep**. Including:

Skype,

VZ Navigator

Amazon MP3

My Verizon Mobile

Google News and Weather

If I wanted this crap I would download it. If they want to push it in an update fine, but give us the option to remove it if we don't want it.

Last but not least, I was stoked about the 3G mobile hotspot capability, until I found out it cost money to use.

Speed gained with the update is nice, but overall not worth the hype in my opinion.

you forgot 3g mobile hotspot....lol. yes....more bloatware. it doesn't bother me much. so now there are 3 more icons amongst the 100 in my app drawer.....no biggie to me. it's annoying, but i suspect the deals vzn has with these companies contribute to subsidizing the cost of the devices. i for anything that will keep a $600 device at $200. if they can make an extra buck in the process, oh well. my device is noticeably faster. if you look, there's a thread where peeps are posting their qudrant scores. the average device is now twices as fast...faster now, then the X (at least until it gets froyo). all i really want was the speed, 720p video recording, and ANY additional battery life. i got 2 out of 3 and will monitor it today to see if i eek out any more life. i'm very happy with the update (oh yeah....and install apps that allow it to sd card!!!!!! free up memory and not have to worry about getting the low memory message!!!! BIG plus).

you already have it if you got the update. go to settings->applications->manage apps->touch the "all" tab on top of screen->long press adobe flash......does it say version 10.1.72.7???? if so, then you're runnin flash 10.1!!!!!

It is Wednesday morning, 1 September 2010 and I received my HTC Droid Incredible update. I followed the Installation prompts and everything went very smoothly. All of the settings that I had before the update stayed in tacked, i.e. E-Mail, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Apps, Folders, Wallpaper, etc... My Droid Incredible is now working even better than it did before the Android 2.2 Froyo update. I currently reside in Milton, WI.

I received the Froyo update this morning. I'm extremely frustrated with it. Now, a bunch of apps keep starting themselves up in the background (Skype Mobile, Amazon MP3, VZNavigator among others), and even if I force-quit them from the Manage Applications menu or use a task killer, they keep starting themselves up. I can't uninstall them either.

Just recd my update last night (phoenix,az) and i absolutely HATE IT! 2.1 update1 worked so much better ...Google should stop trying to be like big brother and just provide a software that is reliable and durable, not one that looks pretty and provide useless pre installed apps.

Cant wait until my contract is up ...

I got the status update sometime this morning.Was there when I woke up. Installed it and luckily able to manage appliucations. After a call have to rforce stop number of apps but after that face no issues. To manage I have been using Memory Task Cleaner which seems to be working really good for me.

I received the Froyo update today and it locked up my phone. Spent two hours with Verizon and HTC at the same time on the phone. They had me a do a hard reset of my phone and it lost my data and now only the phone works. No internet, no text or data. They're sending me a new phone overnight.

What a gigantic pain in the arse! Tech support for Verizon is a freaking joke!

I agree that a few more icons is no biggie, but **bleep** programs constantly starting up blows. My battery life is worse now that it was with with 2.1 because of the crap starting.

I had a full charge this morning at 7am when i ran the update and at 11am the phone was dead. I figure, okay not a big issue because it took some juice during the install and the multiple restarts, so at lunch I charged the phone to a full charge.

It is now about 4 hours later and the battery has 20% life left after 1 phone call and NO other use. I was getting 6 - 15 hours before depending on use.

I will give it one more day and if it is the same i will exchange the phone for a device with 2.1 back on it. 2.2 sucks in my opinion. To each thier own.

I actually called VZW asking for a replacement with 2.1 installed on it and was told no, that all replacements have 2.2 on it.

I recieved the new update this morning around 8:00 a.m. and ever sice my phone has not worked the same. My weather app will not cut off using my TASK KILLER. Everytime I make a call I have 5 or 6 apps running when I'm done that I did't use or start. I've had to restart my phone 3 times today just so the apps will cut off.

you'll just have to deal with the apps running. google changed the code to try to render app killers useless. you can kill them (i still do) but they immiediately start again. i just killed 24...lol. i don't think it's a big deal....just annoying and i DO believe they drain battery. i suspect someone will update or develope an app killer to be more effective soon. but i really have no idea what i am talking about.

Received my update this morning. Several annoying new programs wanted to run, draining battery big time. I had to repeatedly kill them off, and they kept magically restarting. After a couple of hours of doing this, I finally got them to stop. Don't know what will happen when I restart my phone tomorrow morning. The worst thing, though, is that it completely wiped out my calendar and all appointments in it, and will not allow me to reenter any information. Although the calendar opens up when I press the icon, when I go to enter a new event, I get a message saying "You have no calendars." Also, my city no longer exists in the Weather program! Extemely irritating and annoying. I'm hoping they come out with an update to the update to fix all the bugs.

I received it and now my ear speaker on the phone don't work during calls. The speakerphone speaker works and bluetooth works though.

i got my update at 3:30am. i feel the movement between screens is snappier, i dig the new SMS widget and the moving apps to SD card option. HOWEVER, as stated above, VZN adding this useless crap which, as stated, starts on it's own and re-starts after force closing is **bleep** and negates what Android is about (makes me wish i purchased an N1 instead!). it's like buying a computer at Best Buy loaded with bloatware. i'm not happy. i have a feeling the only way to rid this is to ROM the phone (which i'm not doing). despite the above, i'm impressed with the update.

anyone know how to use/access this feature? i'll lurk the forums more for an answer but in the meantime if anyone has any insight, please share.

If were you all who are waiting on the FROYO update, do it manually through that android website. I had my brother help me and i was updated in about 20 mins. Overall speed is increased a little and you have the 720p upgrade for the video recording. Its really easy to do.

no....but sounds handy! let us know if you figure it out. i too am impressed so far. besides a minor charge issue (battery light would not go green) which was easily fixed (bump charged and rebooted), i've had NO issues so far. now i'm just curious to see how the battery life goes!!!!

Figured it out... hold the HOME button for about 1 second. i'm gonna be embarrassed if this feature was always in 2.1 :smileyindifferent:

Got mine this morning. Lots of kinks.. got most worked out but cannot for the life of me log into twitter for some reason. I can log in on my PC and Laptop and using internet on Droid but cannot log in thru the twitter page on my Droid. Am I insane??? LOL

Got my Froyo around 11 AM today. Not a single problem with it thus far. Love the 720p video recording and the fact that I can use the Incredible as a WiFi hotspot. (Though I'm currently trying to figure out exactly how to set that up...anyone have any input?) I've also noticed a small speed increase in switching from one home screen to the next, as well as fewer apps force closing. So far, I'd say it's lived up to the hype, but then again I could just be one of the lucky ones...

I also love the fact that the phone says "DROID" and shows the red eye logo when turning on, as opposed to the boring Verizon logo. Yeah I know, that's petty but hey, little things like that excite me. :-D

I have also noticed a couple other little things that are kind of neat. For instance, when sending a message, there is a little button with a paper clip logo you can hit to attach a picture, sound file, etc. as opposed to opening up the menu.

Question....with the 2.2 Froyo update are you saying that you can choose how to wake up the phone? I know it's a little thing but I hate having to push the power button to wake my phone up, and want to be able to wake it up by pressing the joystick/trackball or some other key. Thanks!

kelbell...i'm not aware of being able to wake the phone up in any other manner than the power button. i wouldn't be surprised if there was an app that did it though (possibly an app that would allow the vollume key to wake it up???)

the new messaging UI is ace and i love how they made switching between gmail accounts much easier and intuitive.

I just got my OTA update this morning. I only played around with the Adobe Flash features a little, but it's not bad. Streamed videos aren't too choppy - considering that heatsinked netbook processors like Intel Atom are still bad at streaming high-resolution video, Android's Flash integration is pretty impressive.

The bad:

* Twitter (Peep) doesn't work anymore

* City ID still there, can't remove

* VZ Navigator - when there's google map navigation, why would they add thing

* Mobile broadband connect - there's no point in forking over more money when there's mobile hotspot feature

The added clutter looks like Verizon's doing, not Google's or HTC's.

Received at 9 a.m. just as I was pulling out of driveway to head to work.

Haven't had time to check it out (other than the screen rotation aspects).

Was a little miffed that it insisted on resetting many of my syncronization settings. Also alarmed about the fact that while I have the device plugged in, it is LOSING POWER on the battery. What the heck is up with that?

If you have not rebooted the phone since the update, that could be your charging issue.

THIS also happened to me. I there ANY WAY to get the Calendar back??????? VERY VERY VERY UPSETTING!!!!! I didn't care about the **bleep** update anyway....and it didn't prompt me to back this up anywhere. UG!

My calendar had disappeared and after a couple of days I was able to get it back: Open your Calendar, click Menu button, then click More, then click Calendars. Make sure boxes are CHECKED (mine had become unchecked with software upgrade), and all of your info should return, and you should be able to make new entries just like before. Hope this helps........
