Anything on a case for the extended battery door? Just ordered mine from the VZW and was curious when a case will come out.

You need to call VZW and order the 2150mAh OEM extended battery. It's not available online or in the stores yet. It comes with a new back cover to accommodate the battery and there are pictures of it online in the forums at Android Central.
I ordered it on Saturday and was told it would be shipped overnight for delivery today as I specifically asked for overnight... Came to find out I won't be getting it until tomorrow as they set it for 2nd Day delivery... Letter to Customer Service has been sent and I recommend anyone who needs it next day specifically asks for such.

in order for it to have more capacity, it has to be bigger.

i have one that came with the phone that is 1300 and 2 that i bought seperately (made for the eris but works in the incredible) that are 1500. i know it's only 200 different, but they're the same size. so if i want an extended battery i will have to get a different backing??? where can i even find this stuff??? i didn't find it on vzn's site. i'd love a longer battery but i'd like to see how much more wide it'll make the phone.

i found it on some other site. doesn't look too much thicker, but it would definitely be nice if they'd release a case that would fit.

it should come with the battery. as far as cases, of all the phones I've had, all but one had an extended battery available, all came with the door and battery in the package, and none had a case availableto accomodate the extend battery.

that blows. i'd love to have an extended battery, but not at the risk of dropping a $600 phone and breaking (or at least scratching/cracking) it. seems like there'd be a decent market for a case that would fit the extended battery....especially if you were the only one manufacturing it?

When the 2150 comes out supposedly it is only 1mm difference. Might make a difference on snap on cases but the gel cases and stuff leather pouches shouldn't be an issue. The Seidko 1750 is the same size as the one in the phone so no need for a new back just yet.

these are tiny batteries. my omnia 2 comes with a 1500mAh, and he extended battery is 2400mAh. the difference in phone thickness from the 900 extra mAh is only a few mm, but my gell case is form fitted to the "not pregnant" omnia 2, so it will not fit.
I wonder when HTC will stop putting flip phone batteries in smart phones, I mean, really, I think my rogue had a bigger battery than the incredible...

Are they taking orders on that now. Last I heard it was pushed back again until August or September.

i found it online...but was "not in stock." please keep us posted when you receive it. i'd like to see if they really get it shipped this week, or if it'll be like the phone, where you paid for the order and get it a month later.

I just called and ordered one. Added overnight to it, but since I'm late today, it won't go out till tomorrow. I wish I would've seen this thread a little earlier today. Oh well, I'm just glad to finally have an option for this. I love the Incredible, but I have to say that the battery life gets old and tiresome to deal with daily. I feel like I really can't get the most out of my phone, because using it for any amount of time just causes it to die so quickly. I look forward to the new battery.
Thanks for the tip!

Think I'll just wing it and go without a case... As crazy as I am about cell phone technology I'm sure by the end of this year I'll want a new phone anyways... scratches wont matter to my niece. Now how do I come up with the money.. hmmm

dabbu...that's my problem. i usually pay for all of my accessories (or even the phone) by selling my old phone on ebay. if i go w/o a case it could end up being about a $75 loss. moto droids w/screen protectors and cases on them from the day they were bought would go on ebay for $300 (a few months ago), when ones with small scratches or nicks would go for closer to $200. i'm like you in the sense that i'll prolly want a new phone before i can get an upgrade so i'm counting on selling this one for about $300. NEED a case!!!! i'm going to want a front facing cam as soon as vzn has a phone with one....which i suspect will be this year.

I ordered mine late yesterday and it somehow came today. I'm charging it now. Yeah, it's definitely thicker than the old one, but I'm willing to make that trade. What good is the phone if I can't use the features on it without significantly decreasing its ability to get through the day without being charged? I don't know about others, but time my phone spends plugged in is wasted time for my phone, especially with the 3 foot cable I have for charging. I couldn't do anything with it while it's plugged in even if I wanted too unless I want to sit on the floor next to it, and that's not gonna happen.
I'll post about my experience with it in a day or two to tell folks how much longer it goes with this battery.
