I have the new Incredible but cannot get a receieved text to make my phone vibrate. I am running vibrate everyone where I can find it, including in the RECIEVED MESSAGES setting Vibrate when messages are received is turned on, on the main power swithc Vibration mode is used (I only want the phone to vibrate I never use ring tones).
The phone does vibrate when in sleep mode when I get a call so I know vibrate mode works when using the unit AND when it is in sleep mode. Text messages notification does work, I just don't have a clue that I got one.
Any other tips or tricks?
Thanks!

As a test, use the volume rocker on the side and lower it down till you feel the phone vibrate, send a test txt and see what happens and report back...

No luck...
I put sound notification back on, and if the phone is off vibrate I will get the selected text nofitifcation tone. But turning down the ringer volume to vibrate cancels out the text notify sound (which you expect) and the Incredible does NOT vibrate when a text comes in (but it will vibrate if I get a phone call - been sitting here with old phone and Incredibe testing all sorts of combinations).
The text notification also shows up everytime - no issue there. In fact, I turned off the text notification in case you can't have vibrate text notify and text notification on at the same time (assume that would be odd but tried it in case).
I went over to a Verizon corporate store but got no where... they said it should work but I don't think they have had much exposure to the Incredible yet. Also, no working Droid or Incredible in the store to see if "they all do it" that way, so no luck there either to see if it is just my unit as clearly the menus say you can can have a text vibrate for notification.
Anybody able to test it on their Incredible? It would only take a few seconds (please!).

There's another thread on the forums about this. You're quite right, though. When the phone is set to vibrate, it won't give notification of text messages. The other thread discusses a workaround for this problem. I'd link to it, but I don't have the link right off-hand. Sorry.

I am having the same issue with my Incredible phone. Went to the Verizon wireless store today, and they helped me "set" the notification settings and assured me it would "fix" it, and it didn't. Has anyone found a resolution to this?

I had the same problem with mine about a week after I got it. I remember that vibrate worked at first but at some point stopped working when I was receiving text messages. Mine, like everybody's here worked when I was receiving incoming calls and gave me haptic feedback.
So, I called the Verizon customer service line, and had a very helpful agent walk me through everything. You probably won't need the help of an agent to fix this. He had me do a hard reset on my Incredible. To do this: Menu>Settings>Privacy>Factory data reset>Reset Phone.
Make sure that you back ALL of your information up before you do the hard reset, as you will lose everything and start over from scratch. Menu>Settings>Accounts & sync>Sync all. I strongly suggest using VZW backup assistant. If you have a lot of apps, I would suggest making a list of them or downloading an app called AppBrain to your PC and to your Incredible. It works through your Gmail account and stores your apps in a database. I did not save my apps, and had to start over with loading apps. Luckily, I did not have any purchased apps. I do not know how to back up or re-load purchased apps, there may be a utility through the Android Market.
After running the hard reset, it is best to have someone or even Verizon customer service send you test text messages to make sure that the issue has been resolved. It seems like a tedious process, but actually only took about 30 minutes. After the problem has been resolved, restore all of your data back to the Incredible through the setup process.
One last tip, I found a great app in the Android Market for text messaging called SMS Popup. It adds reminders, custom vibrate patterns and notification sounds to individual contacts. It is VERY customizable, and fits many different tastes.
Hope this helps those of you who are having these problems.
