Initial Battery Charge Important

Has anyone waited for a full charge before turning the phone on for the first time?

I waited a month, so what's 3 more hours for the battery to charge? Before I turned my phone on for the first time, I let it fully charge. It took 2-3 hours. I unplugged it and plugged again. It took another 10 mins and the LED indicator was green. I THEN proceeded to turn it on for the FIRST time ever. I played with it nonstop for the next 3 hours, the battery was well above 50-60%. I did NOT charge over night, it's been now almost 12 hrs and it's at 40%.

a lot has been discussed about the battery.....and it is poor. but i get 3-4 hours of up time and 20 hrs of awake time. that's a full day of decent use. i will prolly eventually get an extended battery, but i just don't like the idea of making the phone thicker. a full day is good enough for me for now (and no....i didn't wait....lol....i plugged it in to charge and 30 minutes later i was playin around with it)

I have the standard battery and lasts me all day plus some...very satisfied. As with all rechargeable batteries, I follow the practice of completely charging (uninterrupted) and then completely draining the battery fully (where the phone shuts down) three consecutive times. These types of batteries need to be trained. This is a great way to unleash the full potential of these types of batteries.

Side note on the extended battery from HTC. I'm so used to the added mm's its no big deal now. In fact, with all the use I put mine through I'm satisfied getting an entire day of heavy 3g browsing, and half a day on WiFi. Heavy is key word here. I bet if I didn't touch this phone it would run for days before a recharge. Get the extended battery. You won't be disappointed!

My personal experience mirrors the OP's. I initially charged it until full, unplugged, plugged it back in and repeated probably 4 times until I saw that it just wasn't taking any more charge after plugging it back in. As of right now, I last unplugged it from the charger around 30 hours ago and i'm currently at 64%. I just got it Monday so, it's not like I haven't been playing with it more than normal either. I have a first gen ipod touch and i'd say the battery life is similar, and this phone does way more than that did. I'm happy enough with it, I think that first charge seemed to make a difference.

My only complaint in the recharge department is that i'm colorblind, so trying to tell between the red? orange? whatever the light color is that idicates charging and the uh... green? the indicates it is done charging... trying to tell those apart is mostly impossible for me. I had to ask my wife over and over during that first charge what color the light was lol.

What he said! They tell you not to drain these batteries all the way down.

Extended battery is the best way to go I believe. It actually surprises me that every Android phone I have come across each have poor battery life.

I waited till it went green. I did it because my husband did and he went over 8 hours with playing music all day (regular battery). I had mine on for 9 hours today without a charge and moderate use.

Having previously had an Omnia which lasted about 6 hours it's definitely a nice improvement. I probably will end up getting the extended battery once there are some more cases to go outside the enclosure (I know it has the extended battery "case" that comes with the HTC extended battery - I'm talking about like a silicone case outside that).
