I just purchased a droid 2 and am experiencing random interference, or high pitched background squealing during voice calls. Has anyone else been experience this? I'm hoping there is an update that will fix it so dont have to exchange it and spend hours setting it up again

I understand you are experiencing background noise on voice calls. Unfortunately it will be necessary for you to perform a factory reset. Please follow the steps below:
- From the home screen, touch the Applications tab(located at the bottom of the display).
- Touch Settings.
- Touch Privacy.
- Touch Factory Data Reset.
- Touch Reset Phone.
If presented, enter the current passcode or draw the unlock pattern.
- Touch Erase Everything

Step 1: Settings -> Call Settings and Turn off "Voice Privacy"
Try that for a while.
Are you the one hearing the interference / squealing or the person on the other end?

I have listed some steps below that may help.
- Check the in call volume on the device. If the volume is set to High, turn down and retest
- If any accessories are connected to the device, disconnect them and retest
- Remove and Re-insert the devices battery. Once complete, retest.
- Try updating the device. Dial *228 option 1.
- Try to retest in another location (something in the immediate area could be causing an interference).
- Attempt a test call by dialing #832 near a window or while outside. Track whether it happens on all calls, or is there specific numbers or landlines that you experience this issue with. *This will help determine whether it is an issue with your phone, or with another user’s phone service.

I ended up having to open a trouble ticket through Verizon...I am being told its a problem with the network and not my device. Its intersting though how I can't find anyone else having this problem
