International Roaming

So I'm new to my Droid, had a quick question. I see in the roaming settings there is a Home Only and Auto option. Im going on a Disney Cruise in a few weeks,  I know that calling from ship is possible but I do not want to make calls. I want to be able to use my phone for Pictures with GPS location saves, also a couple of apps for running/bike riding. My question is if I put my phone in Home Only mode, will it allow me to not roam and get charged for roaming but still have GPS function active.

I have traveled international before with AT&T and Nextel, they charged a monthly fee plus per minute. The monthly fee was charged just for the cell hitting the cell tower overseas. I just do not want to pay out the nose.

I am sorry but in order to use your device on the Cruise Ship, you would need to adjust your plan to avoid any outrageous bills.  Please click the following link to review those changes: http://b2b.vzw.com/international/Cruise_Ships/index.html

Also, changing your device to Home Only mode will not help since you are going over seas.

It sounds as if putting the phone in airplane mode may accomplish what you want. Before you go on your trip, why don't you try taking some photos with the phone in airplane mode to see if the GPS coordinates attach to the photos? That way you wouldn't be able to make/send receive data or calls, but would be able to use apps that do not utilize data.
