No conspiracy theory, although conspiracy theorists can usually find one when, not if, they look hard enough.

Have you tried getting the update manually?

1.  You can manually download the update.

2.  Updates for smartphones ALWAYS are by a gradual rollout.  Very smell first day or two, small next day or so, then much bigger.

People are getting it.  Wait until Saturday morning, then post if you dont have it.

What in the world are you talking about being able to manually download it?  The only thing you can manually download are leaked release ROMS.  There is nowhere to manually download the official OTA update from Verizon/HTC and no way to initiate a manual download.

The closest you come to that is getting the text message saying it is now available to download as an OTA update and than opting to download the OTA update.

Sigh, if you are going to suggest the possibility, provide a download link to the file directly from Verizon or HTC.

I never said you could manually download it from HTC or Verizon.

I never said you could manually download "THE OFFICIAL" Update.

HOWEVER, you can find the RUU which is a signed version of the OTA.  It is IDENTICAL to the OTA. The only extra step in downloading from RUU is a wipe of your phone (which many suggest you do when you upgrade).

Finally, when HTC had a version of the update available for direct download, it had MASSIVE problems and took over a week to fix.  If you want that, I can find you a defective update you can download direct from HTC.

I love people who are whining when an update comes out early (end of 3Q or 4Q was the only promised date by HTC or Verizon).   I do not have the update yet and I need it for the fixes it brings and you wont see me whining because I didnt make the first 6000 to get the update.  If I dont have it by Friday (as I fully expect MOST will), then I might get annoyed but I have waited for 8 weeks for this, a few more days wont kill me.

I have to agree about the whining.   It would be very enlightening if we had any idea as to how many phones may be updated.  One needs to  consider the volume of OTAs and network capacity, let alone the support desk resources needed.  I am an IT professional and I can appreciate what they, HTC, can be going though.  Get it right you're a hero,  get it wrong  wow,  get out the pitch fork and torches.    An excellent time for us to learn patience.
