From what I understand is that everyone will get the update just not all at once. They are only doing a certain number of customers per day and the ones that get it are picked at random. Don't quote me on this. It is just what I have come to understand from reading these forums.

Didn't want to wait for Verizon to push the update to me so I downloaded it myself directly from the Android site.

Visit this website on your Motorola Droid and follow the instructions carefully.

Have fun!

The 2.2 update is being released to all customers. The roll out began on August 3 and will end on Aug 18th. They are randomly being sent so you should receive yours momentarily. Hope this helps.

It's probably not random, but not alphabetical by last name.

Since it is now past August 18 and I have still not received the update, do you have anything to add about when the OTA will be completed?

Are you by any chance running a task killer?  You can also try going to Settings-About Phone-System Update to see if that might help.

ok look i have friends that work for verizon. initiallly verizon rolled out the 2.2 for droid. during the first few weeks they had reports about the flash player not working correctly. so they stopped the rollout temporarily. verizon then decided to continue with the update but not including the flash player. they are and have been rolling out at approx. 100,000 a day, as to not overload the servers. my room mate got his last week. and i just got mine this morning when i woke up. now as far as the flash player goes. verizon says they will rolll out flash player 10.1 on or by the 18th of august. yes people the flash player will be in a seperate update which like 2.2 will be an OTA push through phone update. and yes there is a difference and you can tell. for those who dont know it allows u to have 5 home screens, the phone does run faster because of the JIT compiler. the apps in the apps menu fade in and out as u scroll through them. also the background in the apps menu is black. also you will notice they have made smAll changes to the navigator and messaging menus.

sincerely

Natashia,

I am not doubting your word, but I heard that Verizon will be updating phones until middle of September. Is this information wrong (I hope so)?????

If you are correct, it seems that every one I know that own this droid has not gotten an update, and here it is the 15 of August.

Most these people are the ones that bought the phone when it first came out. I would think that people who have had their phones the longest should get the update first. But like I said this is what I think. What do you think???

Thank you

I thought to day would be the day....Its not as of yet.....Been looking at all these posts....they make me want it more...

So I just got off the phone with Verizon support... Was very nice to the guy I talked with...he was very nice with me, but did tell me there was no end date for the roll out... Said they do stop if a glitch is detected but then they resume..I got my droid on Nov. 6th the morning it came out.... best phone I ever had... but IM so impatient..I just want to check out the new features, weather they really great or just so so....  Oh where Oh where is my Froyo update, Oh where Oh where can you be, Come to  me froyo, come to me!

       Signed,

    Impatiently waiting in Chicago

This is ridiculous. Look at all of us clamoring at Verizon's feet, begging for our updates. It's wrong by 2010 standards. Hopefully on the next update they come out with some viable standards. We should be able to hook up our phones via USB to our PCs and receive a web update from Verizon or Motorola.

If it is random how can Verizon ensure everyone is going to get it?
