Is the Droid Incredible less likely to drop down to 1x than the original droid?

To make a long story short, I have a family plan with 4 phones. 2 blackberry 9550's, a Nokia Twist and a Motorola Droid. The Blackberry and Nokia both have good service and have never dropped down to 1x, in the location I use the phone the most. The Droid usually stays in 1x, even though it has at least two bars on the screen. I got it swapped and the replacement suffered from the same problem. I then purchased a Lg Ally on Ebay and that was even worse than the Droid, and literally, could not pick up a signal, let along 3G, in areas where the Nokia and Blackberry have full service.

Basically, I am wondering if the HTC Incredible, is more likely to stay in 3G without dropping down to 1X, than the motorola I had or the Ally. Even though I like the huge screen on the Droid X, I am going to try and stay away from Motorola as I had a bad experience with them. The HTC Incredible is the next best phone. So if someone who has used the Incredible could tell me if it's less likely to drop down to 1x than the Droid, i would be very appreciative. Thanks

I can say my Incredible at times (it's rare but it happens) will drop to 1x or nothing and locks there. And when that occurs, I simply turn on the airplane mode for a bit and shut it off and I am good to go.

i can't speak as to the moto droid. however, i'm in north phoenix (very north...nearly in the desert) and i ALWAYS have 3g. i drive all over AZ and when i get into the canyons and mountains it will drop to 1X (where ALL other carriers lose signals entirely). my brother in law has a blackberry storm II. we both have the same signal service whenever we have compared our devices. love my incredible. i would ask though, if you had this issue prior to the 2.2 update??? i have seen a few complaints about 1X signal (on th moto and the htc inc) since the 2.2 update. there's a member here that had the issue on his inc after getting the 2.2 update, but was able to resolve it when he realized that some of his advanced settings were changed during the update. you should make sure your roaming update is current (dial #228 or *228...can't remember which it is). you can also access advanced settings and play around with them, but you should search these forums to find out specifically what you would want to change, as you don't really want to mess with them if you aren't familiar with them, unless you get specific instruction (which there are threads for here....a couple of months ago there were many discussions regarding the advanced settings).

So between the Droid X and the HTC Incredible, which one would be more likely to stay in 3G and not drop to 1x. I am not concerned with reception strength or bars, just which one is less likely to drop to 1x. Thanks so much everyone.

i don't know? and i shouldn't have said that mine NEVER drops 3g.....but it doesn't when i'm in town. i'd go to a couple different verizon locations and just compare them. chances are they will all be 3g in the stores....but you never know, you may catch one at 1X and know which one to avoid.

I am trying to decide between a Droid incredible and a Droid X. The only thing that matters to me is which is more likely to stay in 3g. going to the Verizon stores near me, wont help. i bet they will all be in 3g there. I wish there was someone who has experience using both these phones that could give me a little comparison. I just dont want to take the risk of buying another phone, only to be dealing with the same situation.

Both the Droid X and Droid Incredible are same with strength on 3G personally I feel the Droid X has a stronger internal processor.

By internal processor, you mean how fast the phone runs and if there is lag?

While that is indeed important to me, I would take a slightly slower phone if it will hold onto the 3g signal better. The original moto droid sucked and went into 1x in my home. This is why I am hesitant to go with motorola. So in yout experience, the Htc Incredible held onto 3g well? Thanks so much.

ever since 2.2, my incredible drops to 1x frequently. never did before 2.2. Although its not a deal breaker, it just seems inefficient.
